Grand Illusion Plans

Bonnie Hunter is hosting her annual mystery extravaganza starting November 28th and I am ready! My fabric choices are way outside of the suggestions this time, so that will make it interesting. And I am using yardage instead of scraps, so I hope I won't get bored! And I hope I will have enough contrast with these choices.
My favorite fabric is the blue floral and it will be in place of Bonnie's turquoise because the quilt uses a lot of it (2 1/4 yds) and I like it the most!
The black and white are the same as Bonnie's suggestion.
The red will be her pink (2 yds), the light green will be the green (1.5 yds) and the light floral print (1 5/8 yd) will be Bonnie's yellow. I tried to get a yellow to go with these, but I couldn't make a combination I liked. I'm thinking I will make half of the units to make a smaller sized quilt this time. If I really like how it's turning out, I can always make more blocks.
So that's the plan so far. But I still have two weeks to change my mind!!

Beautiful choice Kathy. Perfect for a lovely calm quilt, I'd say.

Lovely palette. It will be fun to see it come together. I'm using yardage as well, but I went with Bonnie's colors this year.

I like your fabric choices. I have not made any decisions on what I am going to use. I guess I will have to go through my stash and get my selections made soon.

Love the blue! I have yet to go read the details.....I'm holding off until CS is done. Hopefully that will be next week. Like the idea of using yardage.

Great fabric choices! I LOVE it when others go outside of the box for colors. I'm so glad I am a follower. I'll be stalking -- I mean -- watching to see what happens! The blue is definitely a gorgeous fabric to make up most of the quilt.

Pretty florals for a soft feminine quilt.

Those fabrics are lovely together. I find fabric choice, if not following the choices of the mystery leader, to be the hardest part of the mystery process. But also the most fun while waiting for it to come together.

Love your combinations. I think I have some of that pink floral(used lots of it in my bedroom a few years ago). I am thinking of joining in on the mystery too and making half the blocks. She said it wasn't going to be as many pieces this year...hmmm!!!

Got a chuckle from your line about going outside the suggested fabrics "this time". Don't you always? That is what I love about yours--you use different colors, sub what you want, and make them your own size. They aren't an exact replica of Bonnie's quilts--they are your own adaptation. That makes them more interesting!

Glad to see your fabrics. I'm so excited to Start! I wish I had enough Aqua to use that color. Had to sub out for Purple. I don't see the Green.

Thanks, Kathy, this is just the push that I needed. I totally fell in love with Bonnie's colors but a check of my stash shows I don't have any pink or turquoise or yellow or.... So I was trying to decide "what" to use from what I have and then blew it off. NOW I'm heading back down to the dungeon to eyeball my fabrics a little closer.

It looks like a lovely combination. I'm debating joining in but I need to find a colour combination that speaks to me.

Pretty and sweet colors! Hmm, the sub for the yellow is close in scale to the blue. That might be an issue

Hi Kathy.
There are two fabrics in your photo, that I would dearly love to know the names of. I have scraps very similar or perhaps a match, that were given to me and I can't find yardage that works with the scraps. They are from a dear friend's mother's stash. Her Mum recently passed away and I would like to do something for my friend. Would you consider sharing the names of the blue floral fabric second from the left and the cream floral fabric second from the right?
