National Pig Day

baby pig wrangler!
I was happy to learn that it was  National Pig Day on March 1st. Who knew there was a day to celebrate pigs? I have loved pigs since I worked on a farm every summer to put myself through university. Here's a very old photo of me with one of the baby pigs on vaccination day... there was always lots of squealing on that day!

pieces cut out and ready to sew

I found a great pig block pattern on Kelli's blog Seriously... I think it needs stitches and just had to make one. These are the pieces needed to sew the block. I cut one extra background rectangle, but it was my error.

I love the clear graphics posted as I am not as competent with written instructions vs. pictures.  It tickled me to use a pink print that had a giraffe kind of pattern...to sew a pig!

Oink oink!
I'm thinking of a fun border to make for this block... it's a stand alone project in my mind!

Drop on over to see all of Kelli's National Days blocks... very creative idea.

This is what my design wall actually looks like today with 3 whole Frolic blocks, 1 half block, a map of Canada that Gail sent me (I am hoping to incorporate it into the backing of my 150 Canadian Women quilt) and 1 happy pig block celebrating National Pig Day!

Kelli is coming up with lots of cute patterns, as usual. Don't forget to show her your cute pig block.

Oh, what a cute oinker! National Pig Day--who knew?
Hubby used to help his Dad part-time with his pig farming, hence we built on the family farm. Sometimes the babies would get loose and would be running all over our yards.

Who knew Pig Day was a thing? I like that it is, though, and I like your cute block.

Love the photo of you and the pig and love that pig block--how cute!! and look at the future quilt tops on that design board!!! I kinda expected Jimmy to win Sunday but was really happy for Alex!! my comments are not showing up on my email page--so guess I have to bite the bullet and go to settings and mess with that--and probably really mess things up knowing me!!!

What's not to love about pigs? I'm a piggy fan myself, so know just how you feel about them.

Cute piggy block! Where I live in the New Forest, in winter pigs are released into the forest to eat all the acorns because they are poisonous if the ponies eat them. And when we drive through the forest there are signs up saying piglets running wild......like the ponies and cows they have no road sense!

National Pig Day? How cute is that!

At first, I thought you were saying the block needed stitches of some kind.....maybe embroidery. I clicked on the link and discovered the blog name is what you referred to.

I didn't realize there was more than one person making the daily themed holiday/special blocks. I have been watching Moosecraft's daily blocks and they are also very creative.
