Last Sunday I finished hand quilting the first Life is Beautiful block. I did a bit of quilting in the embroidery, stitching inside the heart and following the swirling tree branch lines. Then I quilted just outside the appliqued circle, and in those middle seamlines that go out to each edge. That didn't seem to be quite enough so I also quilted a diagonal from the circle to the corners. I think that's enough to hold each block together, while still being not too labour intensive so that it will not take me another 2+ years to finish!!
One done and 62 more to go!
What are you hand stitching today? Do you have a take-along project that is travelling with you and getting finished slowly over the summer (or winter if you live in the southern hemisphere)? Link up your blog post below and share your slow stitching progress with us.

Looks so good ❤️❤️❤️
Looks beautiful, I'm not sure I have the patience to hand quilt a big quilt, though I'm tempted with my Down the Rabbit Hole quilt :-)
Perfect quilting for your block. How big is each block? I love seeing this project each week on your blog. Have a relaxing day!
I love the way you have started to quilt your project!
I love your block you are sharing and how you are quilting it... enjoy your slow stitching and THANKS for the linky too! :) Kathi
no travel this year but next year we well see what I have started.
Looks like you did a good job of balancing appearance with quilting time. There's always a trade off. I took handwork on vacation, it was so nice to have something to work on while we watched the sun set each evening.
Well, the hand stitching is still taboo with the CT surgery on the right hand, but hopefully by August I will be able to do some before the left hand goes under the knife. At least I can work on my machine piecing!
You are getting closer! Just the right amount of quilting,
Hmm, I've never done quilt-as-you-go. I might use this as inspiration when my Life is Beautiful blocks are completed!
Love the embroidered blocks! On your Life Is Beautiful blocks----in your center sections and also the embroidered words-----do you use a backstitch, a stem stitch, or something else?
Your block is beautiful!
