Design Wall Monday Mystery

The final step of Scrap Dance Tango has been revealed! This is a mystery quilt from Carole who blogs at From My Carolina Home. I couldn't resist putting my blocks on the design wall and playing with different layout ideas.
Layout A

Layout B

Layout C

Do you have a preference of any of these layouts? I like them all and really don't like one more than the others. But I still have many more blocks to make, so I have lots of time to decide.
The project started in January, and I have made a bazillion scrappy HST's for this quilt since then. Seriously, it has been a never-ending task!
The BlocLoc ruler has made the trimming of the blocks much easier. Although it was a more expensive ruler to purchase, I have used it so much this year that I believe it is definitely worth the money.
Check your sister's house!
The only problem is that the ruler is so popular, my sister sometimes steals borrows it to trim her HST blocks, which leaves me using the regular old fashion way of trimming. I think I will end up buying her one of her own!

My favorite ruler is my Tucker Trimmer. I have a few of them, just in case I hide one from myself. The 1st Layout looks the most scrappy to me. Good for you to have enough made to play with on your Design Wall.

I love the movement in the second one! It is dancing indeed! :)

They all look fabulous but if I had to choose I would say layout A!

I think the A layout "dances" best but they all love lovely. Love the scrappy look. I have two sizes of the BlocLoc ruler and love them both.

Have fun choosing your layout.....you might need to make 3 quilts. ;)
I love the BlocLoc rulers! I have the 6 1/2" and plunged and paid full price for the 2 1/2" and have not once regretted it. I love them!!! Can't wait to see which you choose.

I'm with you on the BlocLoc ruler, expensive but I use it ALL the time so from $'s use point of view, it's one the least expensive in my whole collection!

It's going to be a lovely quilt. All setting look great but I love "C", stand back, squint your eyes and look.

Throw c out the window. It lacks cohesion. A has lots of movement and a patterning which catches the eye and is exciting. B is good also-it has a more modern feel. If I had to choose at this point (as you say there is more to do), I would choose a.

I think layout A is my favorite--so fun and scrappy! I love my Bloc-Lok ruler--I don't even dread making lots of HST's anymore!

A had a lovely flow where the other start a design that breaks up into another and breaks up into another - stick with A.

My eyes have gone blurry, trying to work out the differences between the 3 photos - sorry - they all look the same, but lovely - and if you buy a new ruler then just keep it for yourself and let your sister keep the older one, unless of course it may be a 'present' :)

I really like the calmness of A but there is something about B...not sure what it is. C is just ok!!!
Hoping to see you this week at Quilt Canada. Will be around on the Friday with the Fabric Piranhas and others!

I like all the different layouts. Love my BlocLoc ruler.

"A" definitely gets my vote--has movement, but doesn't make me dizzy.
I have used my smallest bloc-loc ruler so much I wore the lines away. I took it to their booth at the Home Machine Quilting Show and they replaced it free of charge, after I had signed it so it could go on their wall of fame. : )

I like A!
Check your sister's house, funny!

I seem to be the odd one out: I like B best at the moment, though I'm sure that further down the line whatever you do will end up looking great.

You really didn't need anything more than that. :o)

I love your design wall...all three versions are winners!!

I like C too, but then, I am a bit biased, LOL!! As some of your other commenters have noticed, C doesn't come together until it is actually sewn together. Then the two tesselating secondary designs can be seen better. Of course, your quilt is going to look spectacular when it is done! Great colors!!

Kate said...

I like all of them. It's a good thing I don't have to pick one!

I had a hard time deciding which way to lay mine out. I ended up going with Carole's "TANGO". It wasn't until I got some of the blocks joined that I could really see the secondary designs. I actually lost sight of the original blocks as these other designs emerged. I printed out the designs she posted on the blog and studied them a long time before I decided which way to go. I went for King Size; so the pattern REALLY shows up well. www.stitchinggrandma.wordpress.com
