All the broken dishes blocks for Barb's block swap are finally done and in the mail. Some quilters really dislike sewing HST blocks, but I don't mind it, so the thought of making 320 HSTs in order to sew 80 blocks to swap was not a deterrent. However I must admit that it did take me longer to complete this pile than I thought it would.
Next up is the MOD Bear Paw QAL, which is more of the same. I will continue to sew more HST blocks but in a brown, smaller version to make into bear paw blocks.

Christine and I put ours in the mail yesterday!
Broken dishes... my favorite block.
I love working with HSTs! They are so versatile!
I have a new love affair with red and white. Loving those blocks. Funny how we think something won't take long and BAM....there we are working away!!!
they look great - I'll keep an eye out for them!
xo
My brain goes numb if I think of that many HSTs at once! : ) But I love them in quilts so I attack them in little bites, like three or four blocks at a time.
Can't wait to see what you make from all of your broken dishes blocks after you get the swapped ones.
Sure love the red fabrics in the HST....lovely.
I don't mind sewing HSTs so much - it's the pressing and trimming that gets me down... (Which is why I'd rather sew them to the right size in the first place, rather than sewing oversized and trimming them down. Argh! So much extra work!)
Good luck in your continuing HST quest! May they also multiply while you're sleeping!
To me the trick is to cut them over sized a hsve a good ruler to trim each hst to the correct size. Yea for my Tucker Trimmer that I have talked about at my Quilt Guild every month this year! Love your swap blocks. Just takes a little extra time to get them right.
I am getting better at HSTs, I don't like squaring them up though.
Your swap blocks turned out beautifully. I wish I was making the Mod Bear quilt, but too many other commitments. I'll just have to have fun watching yours come together.
A dark chocolate bear! I should have been stitching bear blocks this week, but, I chose to work on some table runners instead.
That's a lot of great looking HSTs.
