A quick finish

My November UFO project is last year's Quiltville mystery called Frolic. It's a lot of complex sewing and I just needed a quick finish for some instant gratification.
These pieces were found in a scrap bag and they wanted to become a placemat. How do I know that? Well they told me of course!

The original owner probably abandoned the project because the strips weren't fitting together well. I made some tucks, added a few pieces of fabric and a wide border.

The machine quilting was simple diagonal lines which aren't exactly straight due to the wonkiness of some of the piecing. But that's okay... finished is better than perfect!

This is the second placemat I've made to donate to Meals on Wheels. I love the idea that someone will enjoy their nutritious food along with a little quilty goodness!

Okay... back to Frolic!

Sometimes we all just need a bit of a 'finish' to keep us motivated. Good on you for doing this for others

What a happy thing to get with the delivered meal to someone that can't get out. Beautiful finish, Kathy! Happy Thanksgiving.

Having a quick little finish can be just the thing to get the creative juices flowing again. So glad you rescued these adorable fabric bits.

It is always good for all quilters to do a "quickie". I really like the placemat! The colors are muted in a scrappy setting!

A nice "rescue" project. My confession: I haven't bound Frolic yet. I got it back from the long-armer in early April. It was going to be the AAUW spring raffle quilt but during the weeks of the shutdown, before people had gotten the hang of online raffles and sales, the urgency went away. Hmmm. Maybe I have just figured out my OMG for December!

Lovely finish and great for a donation. Our group donated 150 placemats to Meals on Wheels last year. They were well received. Good job.

It's so nice that you could take someone's leftovers and make something useful and pretty. What a warm idea to donate the placemat to Meals on Wheels.
