Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly hand stitching party!

We're starting today with a little humour... I saw this at Sharon's blog Vroomans Quilts and it made me laugh!

Quilters as athletes! LOL

I guess some of us truly are, but for sure not me!

And for sure not today!

At this moment the temperature here is minus 20 degrees Celsius (which is minus 4 degrees Fahrenheit). Too cold to go outside for any reason! So I will be an athlete in my sewing room today, and until further notice.

This week I have spent some heavenly hand stitching time  binding my January UFO. Notice the sunbeams shining on my quilt, while my cute Granddog Max snuggles under the quilt? I'm very excited to be close to finishing and will post more about that tomorrow.

I also hand embroidered a word on a secret round robin project I am working on. I just had to put some sunshine into this January stitching! The owner of the project brings sunshine everywhere she goes and I hope she will be happy with my additions to her quilt. I may add another word or two if inspired.

What are you hand stitching today? We hope you will link up your blog or instagram post below and share your slow progress with us.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

How cosy it looks there, as you stitch while the sunshine streams in. Max looks perfectly relaxed. The round robin quilt is pretty; sunshine is such a happy word. I may quilt, but an athlete, I am not. =)

Great way for starting a gray, and wet Sunday. LOL
But wait... -20°C . This is too cold for doing anything.
I may say that Slow Sunday Stitching is our special Sunshine, every week.
Love the embroidery you made on the secret quilt, it is much more special this way.
Happy stitching and stay warm!

It is not quite as cold here, but it is close. The wind chill is about 5 degrees Fahrenheit. I wish being a quilting athlete would help me stay in shape as well as exercising. It is so satisfying to be stitching binding especially with a furry friend nearby. I like your embroidery.

I have been out walking every day, even when it is really cold. You and max have found a very cozy place to snuggle as you do the binding on your quilt!

I'm glad to know quilting is a sport! I once decided quilting was an aerobic activity when I made a jelly roll race quilt. I had to go up and down the stairs and all over the house to corral that long strip of jelly roll pieces sewn together! Happy Sunday stitching, Kathy!

I love the idea of adding words to projects. Meanwhile, I've been walking using my balaclava over my head and face and it's been fine. But I'm on my property and can't frighten other people! It would be nice now for these frigid temps to ease up.

Hi Kathy,
Great projects! I always try to put some
embroidery into my quilts. It adds a little
more interest to the quilt. Have a great day!

Just seeing your temperature makes me cold! Happy stitching!

That is a true statement that quilting is physical! I get a lot of exercise getting up and down to iron :)
Sweet stitching time!

I've done words stitched by hand or added with FMQ - adds a nice personal touch. We were 2 degrees but the wind made for -18 - NO I did not go out. My quilting athletics today was doing a little re-organization as a few projects have come off the shelf (done). Making next month's projects readt at hand.

I saw that athlete saying several years ago on a tee shirt. I had to buy it to wear to work. I worked at a sportswear giant. Everyone I worked with were geeks because we worked in the software for the web site. I told them I was the only true athlete in the department. It was not true but we all got a good laugh out of it. I couldn’t wear it often because of course my employer wanted us all wearing there products.
