Kathleen Tracy offered a Valentine mini mystery this month at her blog A Sentimental Quilter. Here are my little pieces cut out and ready to play. If you are still sewing your mystery and don't want to see the reveal, don't keep reading! Here are the first blocks which should be the same but alas they are not! UGH. Did some quick unsewing and made them the same.
Here is the mystery block reveal. This was a fun and quick mystery to enjoy in the middle of the winter. I added a little checkerboard of squares on both sides to make it into a rectangular shape for a placemat.
Et voilĂ !
A mini mystery quilt turned into a placemat! Quilting stitches were made "somewhere near the ditches", and some kisses stitched into the checkerboard sides.
Thanks to Kathleen Tracy for this fun fabric adventure!

So much fun! I like what you did with your borders!
Love the thought of a mystery quilt turning into a mini...into a placemat. A sweet pattern. It seems a lot of quilters are fashioning placemats...such a fabulous idea.
Kudos to you for turning one block into a placemat! What did Kathleen Tracy call the block? I've seen it under different names. (The most picturesque was Judy Hopkins, Chickadee Quadrille.)
Oh, how sweet! And I chuckled at your comment about stitches being made somewhere near the ditch. I have been tempted to call it "stitch by the ditch". But that does kind of sound like I am out sitting by the irrigation ditch on the farm and doing some handwork.
Lovely placemat.
What a fabulous mini!! And, two birds with one stone - a fun mystery and a mini to boot! Thanks for another great mini!
What a sweet little placemat! That's going to be a cheery little item on your table!
Congratulations on wrapping up that mini-mystery into a quick finish. Always love it when quilter's share their oopses.
