And guess what...
I'm starting another mystery quilt!
But only because it's created and hosted by Cheryl at Meadow Mist Designs. I have sewn two of her previous mystery designs (Mosaic Mystery and Magnolia Mystery) and enjoyed the process (and the finished product) very much.
Here are some of the reasons you might want to join in:
-clearly written and easy to follow instructions
-one step per month (not overwhelming to follow along at all)
-easy to understand fabric requirements (background yardage plus 4 fabrics that don't touch each other)
-selected fabric kits available to purchase from 3 different companies (if you are worried about picking fabrics for a mystery)
-great prizes for some lucky participants
I have been trying to use up my fabric stash during this COVID year when stores have been closed and all temptation has been eliminated. I anticipate creating a fantabulous shop hop for myself to rebuild the stash with new fabrics once I feel safe to shop again.
After pondering the options for this new mystery, these are my two fabric combinations that have enough to meet the requirements:
1) civil war reproductions with beige background (I wish I had enough blue but I don't and seem to have lots of reproduction purples to use up)
2) brights with black on white backgrounds (I love that bright pink fabric but it doesn't photograph well)
Which fabric combination do you vote for?

I prefer the brights if this was to be for myself. Dont possess any Civil War type fabrics at all. I'm sure which combo you go with it will be lovely.
I like them both but I'm more partial to neutral fabrics so I'd go with the reproduction fabrics.
I'm a colour fanatic. I love those brights!
I love both, but my go-to is bright!
I'm a CW lover and that's a great pull of fabric, but..... I would use the brights. We need a bit of pop, fun, and sunshine in our Covid isolation quilting.
I would normally say brights, but those civil war fabrics are really attractive to me at the moment, so I vote for those!
Go for the sunshiny brights. They make my heart smile. We all need smiles right now.
That's a hard call. Both combinations are well coordinated. Depends if it is a more traditional block use CW repros. If a more of a modern design, use the brights. OR do what fabric you'll want to work with on a large project.
How about both? Make two mysteries. :).
I would usually pick the CW fabrics, but I am really liking that combination of brights.
Love the flow chart!
I would definitely do the brights to cheer you up in this dreary time. The fight against COVID...
I have to have lots of projects on the go as well or I would get bored. I wish I was a quilter because I would love to give this a go, I will be watching with interest. I like the brights.
First of all, I LOVE that flow chart. So simple, so true! I am a traditionalist at heart so I would choose the repros, but I love the other combo too so I guess I am not much help. Have fun with it. I look forward to watching your progress.
I vote for the civil war fabric.
I would go with the civil war since I love the combos you have pulled! And I agree, you can never have too many projects on the go. Have fun with this new one.

Although my preference is for the civil war group, I'd go with the brights for Cheryl's mystery as her designs tend to the modern aesthetic.
I like the civil war repro fabrics, but... like others said, it seems time to make bright and happy things. Besides, maybe it's the photo and/or my monitor, the civil war fabrics seem to be only dark/light with no mediums, where the brights seem to have light/medium/dark values. At least according to my "remove glasses and squint" test. OTOH, maybe that doesn't matter if I'm reading the Meadow Mist fabric post right....
I like the bright ones...so much more happy and cheery!! Especially like the black on white for the background!
Since you said you can never have too many projects on the go, you should both, haha. I'd pick the brights.

Oh, definitely the brights! I don't think I even own a black on white fabric! You'd think that this home shop of mine would at least have one. Stay safe,
You can't go wrong with either fabric pull! Would you consider doing both?
Civil war is my fave! Hugs,
Either would work well, but I think the brights are fun to play with during the summer =)
Well, it is brights every time for me!!!
Oh and FYI...I printed off the instructions...you enabler you!!!
