First you have to find the perfect location to take a photo.
Isn't this a great rail fence?!?
Then you have to manage the weather conditions. As soon as we found the perfect place, the wind picked up and the quilt kept falling off the fence. We tried to think of different ways to drape it and put things on it to hold the quilt in place.

Even though it was challenging to get a good photo, it was also a fun outing in the forest. Here is the shot that I decided on for the blog header.

Your quilt looks beautiful in the sun, woods or with the snow! Love that one of the outdoor photo shoots is in my backyard. That creek really does make everything look great!!

The weather and lighting can be very challenging for quilt photos at this time of year. The dog I. The photo is very cute! I’m sure he was a big help! The blog header photo is perfect!

Love, love, love! I too love taking pics outside, but the wind is a challenge here too....we have a wind tunnel in our back yard! Usually I just click and post...whatever LOL...but I do like to get nice pictures :-). This one turned out beautiful. And, the quilt is absolutely gorgeous. Getting in the mood to finish stuff here too!

I love it! I don't think I saved the pattern when it was coming out - was this one Bonnie's mystery last year or the year before? I will have to look for it - I have all her books so maybe it is in one of them?
Lovely pictures, all of them. And I like your story, just like I could have said it myself. I have so much fun taking my quilts outside for taking photoes. It may be easy to do it inside, but much more boring. Your header is great.
We did an outing with one of my quilts recently and experienced the same thing. I have pictures of the quilt wrapping around my husband, thanks to the wind. Funny photos, but not good for a blog post. We did persist, and managed to snag a few good ones. That quilt is so pretty, Kathy! Enjoyed the pictures; you picked a great location!
It’s a beautiful quilt. Living in the Pacific Northwest, it would be rare for me to take a photo of a quilt outside. It’s always wet and muddy, even on days with no rain.
Beautiful quilt in such a beautiful range of settings. Reminds me of all of the outdoor shots in Kaffe Fasset knitting books.

Congratulations on finishing your beautiful quilt and for persevering and getting such a great photo. I was wondering if you use a photo editor and if so which one? I had been using picmonkey but it is no longer available for free.
Your quilt is beautiful and you got some great shots! I've had fun and games at times trying to get just the right photo too - the miss-takes tell a story all of their own sometimes!

I struggle with good photos. You had all four seasons in one day, LOL. Do you live in Indiana, we have that often. Your photos and blog are terrific and the quilt is AMAZING!
