Easy Street is a finished quilt! But it was not an easy quilt in any way! This was the 2012 mystery from Bonnie Hunter. It's a large quilt, with over 2,300 pieces that I cut and sewed together over the past 3 years. And it's an on point setting which was challenging at times.
But it's DONE!
I was so pleased with my finished quilt that I convinced a couple of friends to come with me to do a photo shoot at the lake. The convincing process took some time and included some chocolate bribery, but the actual photo shoot took much longer!
During the complex series of attempts to get a photo of the entire quilt, great gusts of wind came out of nowhere, and the quilt became a sail! There are three strong women behind that quilt holding it up, while at the same time trying to prevent it from blowing away. This was the best shot I could get.
How do magazine photographers do this?!?
Well, I guess they don't go to the lake for ambience!
This photo shows the gorgeous fall leaves and what a wonderful sunny day it was. The lighting of the quilt isn't great, but the leaves are perfectly lit!
A huge thank you to Bonnie Hunter for this fun mystery project, and hugs all around to my friends who are such good sports and are up for any kind of crazy adventure.
To see more quilts that have been finished in the month of October, hop over to A Lovely Year of Finishes. And then hop over to Jo's to see how the mystery quilters are getting along with their pre-mystery finishes.

I love this quilt! Beautiful setting for your photos too, even if it was a bit windy!
East Street never did look easy, but yours is wonderful. The autumn leaves make the quilt glow.
Fabulous finish! A giant quilt in so many ways. I guess with that one crossed off the list, you are ready for this year's mystery?
What a gorgeous quilt. And you were wrestling with it for most of the month so of course you wanted a photo shoot. All of the photos look wonderful and I am so glad that it did not sail off into the lake ! :) Congratulations on an outstanding finish!

Looks fabulous. Are you up for this years mystery? I am.
Wonderful quilt, and your pictures are beautiful. Lovely setting!
Outside photos are the best although they can be demanding on the nerves to get it just right. Great finish!!
I love it! Pretty photos, too!
Awesome Kathy! I just happened to go to your blog this morning...have been way behind on my blog reading, but am working on my Indian Orange Peel and thought of you LOL. Then I saw this wonderful finish of the Easy Street quilt...LOVE, love, love your quilt. That's the only BH mystery I've done because she said it was a smaller one and easy!! It was a lot of stitching for sure, but I am very happy with the results as well. And, believe it or not!! I'm down to the last two seams this morning of the IOP! I will do a blog post for sure when that's done. I'm finally to the point this year that my UFO's are starting to bother me and have been diligently working on getting a few things done (and starting new projects LOL)!!!! It's a disease!
Beautiful!! :0)
I love love love your Easy Street! The colors are fantastic.
Congratulations on this wonderful finish. It is a beautiful quilt, what great color choices.
Greetings,
Sylvia
Mine has been nearly done since the reveal of the mystery and it's been that way ever since. I have the fabric for the two borders and there is lays (hanging head here). If I would only trim it and add the borders I could take it to the longarmer but so far, nuttin. Argh. Yours is beautiful and love the settings you chose for the shoot, especially that beautiful tree!
Congratulations with your finish. This came out beautifully. Mine is like Sherrill's over here. I could finish it soon, maybe now?
Gorgeous spot for a photo shoot! Kudos to your friends for helping out.
I agree that Easy Street was not easy. Mine is still in bits and pieces. : )
Congrats on your beautiful finish! Mine is still in bits and pieces, so I know how much work went into your lovely quilt.
Very big round of applause for this finish--and for quilt prop friends:)
This is so gorgeous--there is no way that I could ever cut and sew so many pieces--yikes!
You get an A+++ for a lovely finish and perseverance....hugs, Julierose
the quilt looks great! are you going to do the next mystery quilt? I haven't even looked at any hints on BHs site..... and I won't participate but maybe download the clues, we'll see.
It turned out beautiful and I love the colors!
So glad you saw it thru as this is a gorgeous quilt! The color combinations and all those pieces really make it! Just gorgeous!
Great finish! Great friends, too! MORE CHOCOLATE for those ladies.
Congratulations on such a big accomplishment! :)
