Slow Stitching Sunday

When in the "Musee Des Beaux-Arts" I found this wonderful painting made in 1886 by Charles Huot.
I love everything about this painting, especially the use of light, and looked at it for a very long time. The details and the quality of this 127 year old treasure were just amazing.  It is so sweet how hard the students are concentrating on their projects.
My favorite sewer is the one by the window who is trying to thread her needle...I can relate!
I hope you are sitting by a window today, or better yet, sitting outside, threading some needles to enjoy some hand stitching. I hope you will link up your blog post about the project you are hand stitching so we can be inspired. Happy Stitching!

Beautiful picture of a beautiful time in history! It always does my heart good to see a child want to learn to sew in this age instead of playing video games etc.

I just found your blog through quiltyfolk.blogspot; I'm glad I came to visit-I'll follow you in Old Reader feeds. I'm a hand quilter and a hand appliquer (plus machine patchwork, usually liberated style), but I don't have a blog. It helps me when I get inspiration from you and others who do hand sewing.
Thanks for showing us this beautiful painting. I'm always attracted to art which shows women sewing or working.
