Surprise Mystery Reveal

Well that Bonnie Hunter surprised us all with her mystery his year by releasing the final design on New Year's Eve!
I still had about 30 units to sew from step #5, but I jumped ahead to constructing some blocks to see what my version of Celtic Solstice was going to look like. These blocks went together perfectly, and the seams all butted together the way I like them to.
I whipped up 6 tester blocks, and I must say that I think this is my very favorite mystery yet! I have enjoyed them all, but the movement that is created when these two blocks are combined is really something!
And I am still loving my fabric choices, so that is awesome! I do wish my pinwheels showed up a little more, but that is not much of a concern with this design overall.
I can see on the computer screen that the top left block is not placed properly, so I will have to pay close attention to that when I'm ready to put the quilt top together.
We are having an early "Friday Night Sew In" tonight, although the official one is not until later in the month. I sure am hoping to make lots of progress on my mystery blocks tonight!

Your mystery blocks are beautiful! I love the colours you have chosen to use. Stay warm today. It is a good day to stay home, drink a hot beverage and sew! Unfortunately, I must go to work...

Love your blocks. They do create an interesting secondary pattern, so I will be interested to see what it looks like when you have more blocks done. I also love your colour choices. Great work

What a great collection of blocks so far. I do agree that the movement created by this combination of blocks is just beautiful. Love your colors. So different from the original but somehow perfect for you.

Lookin' good. There is an alternative setting with more stars instead of a square.

Your colors are gorgeous! Makes me think of Tiger Ice Cream (my favorite treat when visiting Canada), with maybe some raspberry sherbet on the side! : )

I didn't participate, but I've been following along as I have in years past ... I think that this is her best one yet! And your colors are fabulous! I can't wait to see your finished top.

Oh Kathy, it looks fabulous!! It will be so exciting to see this one done. I agree, this is one of the best of her mysteries, and your version is terrific. I like how your pinwheels are subtle, and give added depth, without overpowering the complete design.

I love your blocks and your fabric choices. I, too, have 6 blocks on the wall, not sewn together like yours, and fell in love with the secondary circle. I hadn't decided if I wanted to make a whole quilt until I saw it come together and now I will be working on it, much more slowly than you. It is going to be fun to see what other's have done.

LOVE your color selections! Just yummy! And this is my favorite Bonnie Mystery too. I went with the original color way and I'm loving it. Since I'm doing the king size, and had to put it aside to finish Christmas gifts, I'm hoping to have it all done and back from the quilter by St. Patrick's Day. Or sooner.
