Design Wall Monday #44

One of my projects for 2012 is the Rainbow Scrap Challenge. Each month I tried to make a Knot block from the colour of the month. The Knot block pattern is from Quiltmaker's 100 blocks magazine issue #3...LOVE those magazines!
Here are my 10 finished blocks so far. Well, the brown one isn't quite finished - read this post to find out why!
I have space for two more blocks - one will be dark browns/black, and I'm thinking the last block might be bright greens. And then comes the hard part...figuring out a layout, sashings, borders etc. Do you have any ideas for me?
Hop over to Patchwork Times to see more design wall postings.
It's a busy week coming up on the blog! Look for another "Treadling on Tuesday" post, maybe a "Votes for Women" update, the usual "Slow Stitching" hand work link up, and TWO, yes TWO finishes to share! That hasn't happened in a long time!

This will be a beautiful quilt when your finished. Lay out your blocks in rainbow sequence, your borders could be pianos keys using your scraps and layed out in a rainbow sequence pattern as well.As for the borders, I'm not quite sure

Lovely, as is your blog header, of course. I look forward to seeing your blog header changes from season to season.

I would keep the sashing simple with with colored cornerstones, then for the border you could do either scrappy rainbow squares, or rainbow coins to keep within the shapes you used in making the blocks.........LOVE this quilt by the way!!!

I'm looking at these blocks and wondering how they would look on point. Don't know if I would use setting squares on point or try triangles on the corners of each block in their matching color. Just a thought--I think I would like them on point, but it is hard to get the true feel when I just tip my head at the computer monitor. : )

Your knot blocks look wonderful! How about a narrow sashing in a charcoal gray to play off all the colors and separate the different backgrounds? My local quilt store sells "senior issues" half price off magazines not sold timely, and I bought one of those 100 block Quiltmaker mags. I think it is #6. Lots of great blocks there.

I don't have any wonderful ideas for you but had to drop in and tell you that I really LOVE this quilt. Really gorgeous and I can't wait to see it finished up. Hugs...

I thought of the On-point setting too. Tiny sashings. Play with it. I realize the year is nearly over when I see that this is the 44th DWM according to your post. Doing the happy Dance for your Finishes, will wait to see...

This is such a great block to use for the rainbow challenge and you've chosen the fabrics so well. I can't wait to see what you come up with to finish it. And no, I have no idea. ;-{

Since it is a rainbow scrap challenge, you could always lay it out by color groups, kind of like a rainbow? Hard to know until you start laying them out.

Wow, looking great. Yes the bright green would be a good one for your last block. I am not always a fan of sashing. Maybe a neutral sashing and a corner stone or corner star.

Bright greens will be a fun addition!!! :)

How about a little white square surrounded by color as a cornerstone? I think a small neutral sashing would give the blocks enough room to spread out. Not sure about the border, piano keys might be too strong. How about a parade of small squares in rainbow order?

an on-point setting that is 3 in first row, 2 in 2nd row, 3 in 3rd row, 2 in 4th row, and 3 in 5th row. That would require 13 blocks-but might look rather nice. You can do it as a zig-zag streak of lightning effect, or with setting squares. Do you have the book called "Sensational Settings"?? I've used it a lot for ideas. I'm looking forward to seeing what you decide.

Beautiful Knot Blocks. Great way to use up your scraps. I'll be sorry to see this year's challenge end.
