Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly linkup for all projects hand stitched.
We welcome stitching artists of all types. Yes you! The definition of "artist" is: a person engaged in an activity related to creating art, practicing the arts, or demonstrating an art.
You are an artist if you have ever picked up a needle and thread and tried to make something with it. Your results may not have been stellar, A+, earth shattering brilliance, but that's okay. We welcome all stitching artists here!

I am still very slowly stitching my son's Christmas/birthday  project. I make myself stitch at least 2 thread lengths every day and that is working well. Santa brought me a wonderful magnifier lamp for Christmas and it is helping me so much.

I am bribing myself to finish this project by telling myself that when it is done, I can start a new stitchery from Melisa's patterns!

I also had to do some mending this week, which I dislike, but my Dad had a hole in one of his cardigans so I had to fix that for him. I store my DMC floss in Floss-a-way bags and went through the bags to find the right grey for the job. I have so much floss that I always have the "right" colour!

Again, my new magnifier lamp came in so handy. I was proud of how it looked on the right side of the repair, but the back was a bit messier than I wished it was. However, the sweater is useable and it's usefulness is extended, so it's all good.

I also had a quilting finish this week... the first finish of the year! Click here to read more about the finished baby quilt. I really enjoyed hand stitching the binding while I got caught up on episodes of "This is Us". (I'm sad that this is the last season of this wonderful family drama series).

What are you hand stitching today? We love to see the projects that you are stitching at the start of 2023 - share your challenges and victories with us!

I'm not a fan of mending. You did a good job. I would be tempted to embroider a flower over the hole. The baby quilt is lovely. The panel is so very sweet.

I can’t even see where you mended the cardigan. Great job.

So glad you are enjoying the magnifier lamp. I think that by the end you will be proud to have embroidered Dude. You made a great mending on the cardigan, it looks perfect. Today is on my plans a binding hand stitching. We are watching the 2nd season and also loving "This is Us".

Love your new lamp... I think mine would have to be a stronger strength if I lean on the strength of my readers!
Nice that you can mend sweaters too! Enjoy your hand stitching after church today :) Lovely baby quilt too!

I consider myself both a craftsperson and an artist to some extent. I like your son's gift. When I want to finish something I give myself a three strand goal each day. Your magnifier is a great gift. Enjoy your stitching.

Two strands a day is a good way to finish a project that has lost its appeal! Great repair job on your dads cardi.

You did an amazing job fixing your dad's cardigan! I wouldn't have the first idea how to do that. Finishing the binding on a quilt is always a great accomplishment especially one that has a deadline! Enjoy your stitching today, Kathy!

Aaah , The Dude is looking fabulous, Kathy. You have made a lot of progress and great idea on at least stitching 2 thread lengths a day. It is amazing how a progress one can make though it may seem slow at times. I can not wait to see what project you choose in the future to work on and I am so humbled and honored that you are considering one of mine. Santa was very good to you this year. Hmmm maybe my Santa will bring me one this year. Lol. Great job on the repair of the cardigan. Have a very lovely Sunday.

Wow! Your darning is pretty darned impressive!

Great job on the mending; it's not easy to darn so well that the mend disappears!

And the magnifier should make things easier in general. I use mine all the time.

A beautiful mending job. Mending is a pain but very satisfying if you can extend the life of the item.

You are always so busy with needle in hand. Had wished to join Sunday Slow Stitching, but my stitching has had to in secret for the up coming HOp.
