I have been collecting selvages for a while and made 4 hot mats from red selvages for gifts. They were fun to make in a quilt-as-you-go style. I hand stitched the binding on the back, making it a little longer so I could loop the end over to make a hanging tab.
Then I took them to the local park for a glamour photo shoot, but it was really cold, so the outing was brief and the photos weren't great.
You can't even see the cute little gifts in this photo!
Trying again... that's a little bit better!
Oh well... the idea was great, but the execution left a bit to be desired! LOL
I'm sure the new owners will enjoy these hand made gifts!
Quilters sewing their Frolic blocks! |
It's Frolic Day - Step #4 is posted. I wonder what we're sewing this week in between finishing our Christmas sewing!?

I'm curious also! Staying up waiting, but fading fast. Cute hot pads. I have a tote full of selvages, lol. Thanks for posting.
I sure hope that is a typo on Frolic ..... that number 4 is posted today not number 5 or my brain will be loopy finding number 4.....
what cute potholders! Cute displays at the park!!
cute potholders! it looks cold up there right through the photos. I have Bonnie's instructions saved already this morning I just have too many to start her mystery this year also.
Brrr! Those cute little potholders were probably thinking, "Hey! I was made to handle HOT stuff, not this freezing nonsense!" :)
Love the hot pads, very festive. Sorry the photo shoot wasn't ideal, but it was a fun idea. Happy stitching on clue 4.
cutest pot holders! I think they will work VERY hard to hold pots well after being exposed to that frigid weather...;)))
I like how the binding extends to the loop very creative... hugs, Julierose
Very nice gift indeed! I have made place mats from selvedges, a double handed oven cloth, a Christmas Tree wall hanging and surely other items too. They are fun to work with and my collection doesn't seem to be diminishing.
I think it was a great idea taking photos of your pot pads hanging on the tree! It does look chilly though!
Really cute potholders. I bought some from another blogger last year to gift to my daughters and DIL--I never seem to get handmade gifts made for Christmas, no matter my good intentions!
I like the lights on the tree shining through the potholders.
