Thanks for joining us for the first Slow Sunday Stitching of 2016, and welcome to a whole new year of celebrating the art of hand stitching!
For those that enjoy numbers, here are some statistics from the past year of Slow Sunday Stitching celebrations:
**Total # of 2015 Sunday link ups: 1,684
**Busiest month: 193 links posted in November (5 Sundays)
**Second busiest month: 165 in March (also 5 Sundays)
That's a lot of projects that we enjoyed seeing, and a lot of hand stitches taken over the past year!!
Here is one more statistic that I like to keep track of ... the number of inches I have sewn on bindings.
To the end of November, my total was 3,709", and added to December's only finish (Tucker) which was 52", makes a grand total for 2016 of 3,761"! That's a lot of stitches made by these little hands!
Today I plan to put a few stitches in my star quilt. I am stitching black thread on a black star block, so the photos are not worth sharing. But you can be sure that I will be slow stitching my way through the season premiere of Downton Abbey tonight!
I hope you have something interesting to show us today. Do you keep track of any hand stitching statistics for your own entertainment? Link up your blog post below and tell us what your hands are stitching and what progress you are making on your projects.

Impressive statistics :-)
I'm working on hand quilting today too.
Thank you for allowing us to share our slow stitching through your blog. It's nice to know I am not the only hand quilter in the world anymore. I will be working on applique tonight during Downton Abbey. I would enjoy seeing the crewel project Lady Cora has been working on through the years. Blessings, Gretchen
Can't wait to see Downton Abbey! We re-watched Season5 final episode just to re-fresh our memories.
I don't have cable anymore but I have it ordered from Amazon to ship at the end of the month ; can't wait!
I saw your pillowcases in the previous post. I did them two years ago for the kids. But I only had to do 5! You sure had your work cut out for you :)

cutting fabric might not count as slow stitching but I must finally try out my machine today and as you do it by hand it counts as hand work doesn't it LOL - I really do promise I will sit at the quilting frame later today and take some slow Sunday stitches.
I hadn't, though I love the 'math' of stitching (it's one of the reasons I track my stash). Maybe I'll track how many EPP pieces I baste in 2016! LOL! Have a grand Sunday, and enjoy DA!! :)
Thank you for continuing to host this link-up. I look forward to it every week. I don't keep track of any stitching statistics. I never got on the Downtown Abbey bandwagon, but I may get it from the library sometime soon. Enjoy your stitching and watching.
Happy New Year Kathy - excited to be joining you. Enjoy Downton Abbey!
This afternoon it's my plan to continue cros-stitching the tractor block for Love Quilts Brazil. Thanks for hosting SSS. I like to know your statistics. I Will remember to count my binding stitches for 2016.
Woohoo--so fun to be back to stitching along with Downton Abbey!
Hi,
I hate putting the quilts together, that's why I have so many quilt tops on my list to put together. lol As if I need another project, but I'm seriously thinking about joining in on the circle quilt. Have a great day!
Me too! I'm so excited Downton Abbey is back, and I'll be stitching right along with you :) That's a lot of binding my friend - good for you!!!
Oh what a great idea to keep track of binding inches! I may just have to copy that (assuming I finish something this year lol). I have started alot of projects in the last few months, hopefully some will be finished.
I don't have any stats to share, but have had a great year watching the progress of everyone on a slow Sunday stitching so thank you Kathy for hosting a great blog. And as for Downton, what a great series. We had the finale shown in the uk on Christmas Day!
Those are motivating statistics Kath!! Thanks for the Sunday stitching linky...and Happy New Year!!
Your stats are quite impressive! I will be working on unstitching and then restitching tonight while I watch tv. I really would like to watch Downton Abbey but I have only watched the first season so far so I need to get caught up first!
Glad you're keeping this going! I didn't get linked up today, but hopefully next week! Love it.:) Very fun to read through your stats too. That binding is impressive!
Am I missing something? I don't find the link up. I don't have one for today but I enjoy seeing all the projects.
I decided to take out my 28 years in the making WIP which actually was my 2nd ever quilt project. The blocks are all hand quilted except their centers and then onto the sashing.
I get a kick out of the way you keep track of your numbers. I don't keep track of any stitching related numbers. I have counted the pieces in a detailed block a time or two, but that is as far as I go. It fascinates me, but I never think to do it myself.
That is a lot of binding!
Count me among those that are grateful to you for continuing to prod us to take some time for slow stitching on Sunday this year.
Glad to be able to join in this year and to see that we are Tucker Sisters! I like your suggestion to keep track of how much hand stitching I do this year since I plan to do a lot. You hands were clearly very busy last year!
