May Mini Quilt

sorting scraps
This month's mini quilt was started during a zoom meeting. I had a pile of scraps that were slightly out of view of the camera, and I enjoyed myself so much more by multitasking with fabric!

sewing the last goose
When the meeting ended I began sewing a few flying geese blocks and just kept going until I had enough for a little quilt. You can see the piles of scraps still needing to become part of something. My January mini quilt was made from the same collection of scraps.

stitching the hanging sleeve

Sometimes I wonder why I make these little things. They serve absolutely no purpose, except to make me happy in a way that is not logical or explainable. You can see that the hanging sleeve is about the size of my needle.

And here it is... may I present to you "Of course I still love you".

"Of course I still love you"

The title is the name of the SpaceX drone ship which was repeated so often during the televised launch yesterday. I was stitching the binding while watching the replay of this historic event.

Finished size: 5" x 5.75"

Hop over to Wendy's blog The Constant Quilter to see more miniature quilts made in the month of May.
Linking up to Cheryl's Favorite Finish, Alycia's Finished (or not) Friday, and Cynthia's Oh Scrap party.

It's soooooo cute! I love everything about this all the way from your multi tasking to the tiny blocks, the fabrics, the scrappy goodness, and even what you were doing while you made it. Little FINISHED projects make me so happy! Now I'm headed over to check out the others. Maybe I have something that's not going to get finished from it's original state and could make it into a mini FINISHED state. Let the inspiration flow.

Great name for a cut little hanging. It was fun watching the launch yesterday and we watched it dock at the ISS this morning as well.

That is cute as can be, Kathy! Those are some tiny flying geese!

I was watching that yesterday too, and then the docking this morning. At last, something positive in our news!

Great name for you May Mini. Your quilt is charming with all those little pieces and the random placement.

Oh my those are tiny. There is nothing wrong with making something just for the entertainment. It will eventually find the perfect home. Thanks for sharing with Oh Scrap!

I absolutely love this tiny little quilt! Especially that it's totally scrappy and made without planning. And .. I totally agree about making these "useless" little items purely for our own pleasure. They make me smile! Isn't that enough? 😄

I love your monthly mini. I like this size mini as they can be put into service as mug rugs everywhere we're likely to set a mug (or wine glass).

It's a little gem of a mini. I like your random/not so random placement of the little flying geese. Or, I should say, tiny flying geese!

Pretty little mini. I totally get it! There is nothing I like more than sewing little scraps together. I bask in the joy of knowing that I made something out of what others might have thrown in the trash!

So very pretty.

You very neatly described my feelings about mini quilts! They aren't logical or purposeful like bigger quilts, but yes! they do make my heart sing!

Oh my! So tiny and sweet. I love the name too! I haven't done a Zoom meeting yet, but it looks like yours was productive. I love the little geese (goslings?). Thanks for another great mini. I have linked you in to the post.

Very cute mini - but I like the name the best - what a great thing to commemorate!

That is absolutely adorable, and I love the name choice. :)
I ask myself that same question about making minis, Kathy--and usually come up with the same answer.

Thank goodness quilting doesn't have to be logical! Your mini is very sweet. Someday I'm going to start making mini's too. I want a big wall filled with them.:)
