Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly link up of hand stitched projects! I was thinking this week how ironic is it that for years I have encouraged the stitching community to slow down, and now the world has screeched to a halt, and people have been forced to stay home!
We are all on an enforced slow down and it has been hard for some people. While the uncertainty is troubling, I must say that I have enjoyed the slowing down part and am so thankful to have my stitching to keep me sane as the days crawl by. I am farther along in embroidering this Stitcher's Revolution tea towel, but I didn't take a more recent photo of the progress. It has been meditative and relaxing.

It's rhubarb season here and I love all things rhubarb... here you see part of the little patch that was planted by my mother-in-law about 25 years ago and still provides plenty of rhubarb each season. I have already made rhubarb juice, rhubarb muffins, stewed rhubarb and strawberry rhubarb jam.

This is what I'll be doing again today... enjoying the great outdoors, having more rhubarb products for breakfast, and putting in some stitches.

I am rather loving this enforced slow way of living. All your rhubarb goodies look delicious; you have cooked up a storm. Enjoy your day stitching your Revolution tea town whilst sipping some of that refreshing rhubarb juice.

Life is quite different here....slow, but with an underlying frantic-ness of anxiety in the population. My momma had a rubarb patch too....good memories!

I am IMPRESSED! My mother-in-law had an impressive stand of rhubarb in her flower/herb garden and that's where I learned to appreciate rhubarb. We have a small patch with 6 plants. I cook rhubarb, sometimes with strawberries, for pies and to eat with biscuits but have NEVER thought of rhubarb juice! I am fascinated by your photo with the slice of lime. Can you be more specific as to the "how-to" when you have time? Blessings from southeastern WV.

I love rhubarb! And the thought of strawberry rhubarb jam sounds amazing. Now if it was normal times I would go and buy some (I've a real craving for rhubarb crumble now) but it will have to wait for my next shopping expedition. Enjoy your slow Sunday stitching.

I wish I could grow rhubarb decently here but I tried several times and failed- we did grow it well in the northern states though

So appropriate "Roll With It" embroidery. The slow stitchers seem to be adjusting to it well. I have never had rhubarb juice. I shall have to read more about rhubarb plants as hopefully a countryside farm has some to sell.

I am enjoying the slow down, but then again I enjoyed being a stay at home mom for many years until circumstances deemed that I return to work. I was made for being a homebody. Sadly, I have never tried rhubarb. I would probably like it, but my grandmother used to cook it every once in a while until it was a mushy mess that didn't interest me at all. I will have to look up some recipes and see if I can find it in stores.

We have a rhubarb patch too and just this morning enjoyed a bowl of rhubarb and yogurt for breakfast. Rhubarb is also rather nice cooked with apple as well, have you tried it this way?

Mmmm rhubarb crumble is a family favourite served with cream or custard. I'm enjoying having more time to spend with my son and younger daughter who live with us. We are all getting on very well and all working together to get some jobs done around the house that we didn't have time to do before.

Hi Kathy, aren't we lucky to have these amazing slow stitching hobbies to keep us sane? I just love all things rhubarb. We are a little behind you but my rhubarb should be ready in a couple of weeks. I can't wait, but after I cultivate it, I have to move it, so I really hope that it will be ok next season. I would really miss it if I didn't have any. Take care.

Love rhubarb, but don't have a place to grow it. I need to text a neighbor down the street to see if I can raid her patch. I have a delicious rhubarb cake recipe and used to make a rhubarb sauce in which you diced the rhubarb and soaked it in honey. It was great over vanilla ice cream.
