I'm taking on a doozy of a UFO this month!
The project is my RSC spools quilt. I sewed spool blocks for 3.5 years and they were finally sewn together at the end of 2016. The quilt top has now aged to perfection and is ready to become a finished quilt by the end of 2019 (hopefully).
I'm certain I could not finish the quilt in one month, so I will make my goal to complete the pin basting and finish HALF of the machine quilting in November.
This is one of the largest quilts I have ever made and because it's so heavy with all the piecing in it (612 blocks) it will be a challenge to machine quilt on my DSM.
But the evenings are long, dark and cold in November, so if I have a quilting goal then maybe I will (hopefully) use my time constructively instead of hibernating.
This is the wonderful wide backing fabric I found - a Wyndham Fabric from the "Be Mindful" line called "Friendship". I adore it!

I love your spools - how large is this quilt - it really looks wonderful in the arrangement you have
3.5 years to sew them all....well I had thought I would like to do one of these...but maybe not!!!! Well done! Good luck quilting it.
Did you plan on the watercolor effect? Well, whether planned or not, it looks wonderful.
that will be spectacular and more fun than hibernating
Good luck with your goal! I know you can do it.
You can do it.
Oh my what a beauty and your color placement adds so much.
This is just fantastic!
Your spools look great! How will you be quilting it? Simple or fancy? We will have to wait and see.
This is an awesome quilt Kathy. The goal is pretty big...but good luck.
Wow that quilt top looks amazing. Good look with your goal for November.
Best of luck on completing your goal for the month!!
So stunning, Kathy! I wish you well with the quilting journey. Have you picked out thread to match each color?? :)
I love that 'Be mindful' line and wish I could find it in our local shops, but may have to go online for it. Good luck with the quilting. All those seams will be a challenge on the DSM.

I don't know that I've seen this top before. I love the colorwash effect! This one is going to be a stunner :)
That's a beautiful quilt Kathy. You did a wonderful job on the colour arrangements.
Wow! Another gorgeous quilt top! Looking forward to seeing the end results.
Very very striking Kathy! Beautiful and yes it is a large heavy quilt! I am sure you will do fine with the quilting!
WOW...it's gorgeous, but sounds so tedious and so much work. You must be getting excited to move on to the next phase of this quilt. I love all the color and the detail. Very cool fabric you found, particularly given the current climate of how people treat each other. Very nice.

I so love these spools, although they have led to my downfall. That quilt will be a total knockout. That said, I see no need to hurry anything to completion because each time one of your projects re-emerge, they inspire once again. I even had a brief moment where I resolved to sew together my macro-spools!
Amazing!!!!! Thanks for linking up with Elm Street Quilts One Monthly Goal and good luck with your project.
I'm sure this IS a heavy quilt. So much piecing!! Love it so much. One of my faves of your quilt tops.:)
Awesome quilt, “aged to perfection”! Good luck with your OMG.
This is beautiful! Good luck getting started on the quilting!
Wow! That's an amazing quilt! Love all the colors and how you laid them out in bands. Good luck with your November stitching goal.
