We want to encourage you to relax, and enjoy the satisfaction and health benefits of creating something with your hands.
I recently came across an article on the 5 benefits of crafting and this is so true especially for all type of hand work.
Dopamine makes us feel happier, so join us today in increasing dopamine by hand stitching your favourite project!
I had a dopamine infusion on Friday night when my friends Barb and Debby came over to play! Barb was having a lesson from Debby who is an expert on how to join hexies together.
How did Debby get to be an expert? Lots and lots of practice. She has made many hexagon quilts, and just look at how many prepared hexies she has waiting to be sewn together.
But wait, that's just the top layer of the storage container.
Here's how it looks when the top two trays are moved to the sides to reveal the bottom layer. OMG! It's a sight to behold! I looks like there are 2 sections waiting for more hexies... maybe she's working on that today?!?
My favourite hand binding! |
Today I will be hand stitching the binding on my July UFO. If I stitch all day, I'll have this finished in plenty of time for the end of the month link up for One Monthly Goal.
Share your blog post or instagram link (I'm still trying to figure that whole thing out!) below and tell us what you're hand stitching today. We will be your cheering squad!

Thank you Kathy, for your Slow Stitching Link-up each week. And yes, I've had my dopamine today, sitting outside in the fresh air in the warm wintry sunshine, doing a little hand work.
I may be able to get to a binding this week, whoopeee!! That is my favorite hand stitching. I have an idea in mind for a fun Autumn project in wool too, and I want to get started on that.
Getting ready for church, but plan to spend my afternoon looking at all the slow stitching goodness. Thanks for hosting.
Love seeing those trays of prepared hexies ready to work on - I have two leftover small boxes from another project and will work on them in September maybe
That is a lot of hexies! Enjoy your stitching and Im off to get dopamine infusion for the day!!
Thanks so much Kathy for this weekly link up. I still would like to learn to do hexies. But today I will continue stitching on my Kathy Schmitz stitchery.
I've been getting a nice infusion of dopamine since Friday evening since seeing the doctor and getting pain relief I can sit comfortably and stitch. thank you for having this wonderful link up it really motivates me to stitch daily. I hope you get the binding completed.
I definitely addicted to dopamine. LOL Apparently by your blog so are many others. Thanks for pointing out that practice makes us an expert, no one starts out that way. How wonderful that your friend is passing on her knowledge.
I get my dopamine from both quilting and knitting, a double dose. I love hand binding quilts, too. And I love your blog.
I don't do much hand stitching of anything now, but I love seeing what you do. Those hexies are amazing!
My veranda stitching is definitely happy inducing for me, no question. But wow, look at all those lovely hexies just waiting for the right project. Amazing and I think we are all rightly impressed! I think making hexies is dopamine inducing for Debby!
Add some walking and 10 minutes of sunlight and the crafts and we will all live to the age of 100! LOL Great post Kathy
Love the stripe binding--hope you get it done in time!
Warm winter sunshine?! I'm in Maine its 90°
Sewing , knitting and cross stitching are so therapeutic for me.
Oh my goodness, that is a whole lot of pretty hexies. Your friend is definitely an expert.
I enjoy crochet. Right now I'm working on a simple cold pack cover for my guinea pigs! (I'm 63) because it's hot here in San Diego.
