Mid Month Finish

My version of Carole's Scrap Dance Minuet is now a finished quilt! I was inspired by Carole using up some of her floral fabrics and I was very happy to clear out some very old stash.
Here is the clothesline shot.

It is a hard quilt to photograph, although I'm not quite sure why. The floral fabrics don't look nearly as pretty in the photos as in real life, but when I try to brighten the colour balance, it makes some of the fabrics look very strange... especially the one with yellow flowers.

Here is the quilt from the back. Can you see some of the machine quilting? It doesn't look nearly as bad as I had feared when I couldn't remember my original quilting design and changed it up a couple of times by mistake. I really like the curved lines I did in the last 2 borders.
Thanks to Carole for another fun mystery adventure!

  1. Congrats on using some old stash and getting a lovely quilt to the finish line. It has kind of a vintage and romantic vibe that I love.

  2. Doesn’t it feel good to use up some old stash and create something so pretty, AND declare a finish?Well done! I have been sewing, sewing, sewing, also from my stash, but haven’t had a finish in awhile, so I’m inspired by you.

  3. Kathy: I am not sure why but this quilt reminds me of when I was very young, I love the colors.
    Beautiful machine quilting.

  4. I loved your layout so much, that I decided to follow it, but when I looked at the photo on an earlier post, I thought it was square (3 X 3 block setting) and I wanted it longer, so I made an extra block. Now I see it's really the size I wanted. Oh well, now I have an orphan block to put in something else. Hope you don't mind if I copy your border treatments. I really like the look.

  9. Very pretty! Love the softer color palette. I often wonder why some quilts photograph true to color with no effort, but others, even an hour of playing with color balance and hues in Photoshop doesn't help at all.

  10. Such a pretty quilt, and it's so good you got to use up some older fabric from your stash.
