June OMG

My June UFO goal is to finish the improv "Dots and Dashes" quilt top. It's been in time out for about a year and it really wants to become a quilt top.

The reason why this quilt became a problem and went to the UFO closet was due to decision fatigue. When you are not following a pattern, and you are making an improv quilt that requires constant decision making, and your brain is too full of all the other real life things you need to make decisions about, it sometimes becomes too much. I need to be in a clear brain space to work on improv quilts.
I really do enjoy the process and love the finished projects, but need the right head space to pull it off. Hopefully that will happen in June!
So now the pieces are out again, the project has a time limited goal and the pressure is on the fun can begin!

Well it looks great so far Kathy. I know what you mean about needing a clear head. It does require focus which is why I think I enjoy it. I'm also working on a project using this technique this month but it is much smaller.

Wonderful colors! You were wise to put it aside for a while -- hope you can muster the concentration needed to put the pieces together.

Decision fatigue is real and I don't blame you for putting it aside if you were struggling with it! Love the fabrics and can't wait to see what you end up doing with it!

A new term for us Quilter's. I like where this one is going. Will it be yours after all the fussing? I see fun shapes. Enjoy the process.

I understand! Sometimes just piecing together quilt backs can be more mental work than making regular blocks. Improv is a mental workout!

It's coming along so nicely. I'd never heard that term before, but I can certainly agree with brain fatigue.

Absolutely yes to the decision fatigue.:) Improv. is a lot of fun, but there are moments when it gets overwhelming for sure! Looking forward to seeing this one as a finish. The softer colors are very refreshing.
