Design Wall Monday

I started a new quilt on World Wide Quilting Day (which was March 18th) at a quilt guild event. This quilt uses Tula Pink fabrics from the Zuma line. It's not very often that I make a quilt from a single fabric line, but I really like this one!
As often happens with me, although I really enjoy the quilt project I am working on, I get completely distracted by the scraps. And I mean totally distracted!
I just want to stop sewing the original project, and start playing with the baby HST blocks and see what they can turn into. I turned them into pinwheel block and here they are on the design wall. They are so darn cute!

What about if the blocks are set on point?

The spaces around the outside would need to be filled in with the background fabric or I'd have to buy more yardage.
I like both layouts.

Wait...
what if I keep the on point layout and separate the blocks with a plain square?

Hey, that's fun too!

It really looks like the old fashioned pinwheels of days gone by with this layout.
What if there was a little pinwheel in the centre of the alternate block so that it's not so plain? Maybe I'll try that!
What would you do with these blocks?

So many choices, all cute. I like the last one best, having a bit of plain space between makes the pinwheels shine.

I always like pinwheels!

I am partial to on-point settings. I like #3 and think that a little something in the alternate blocks would add interest.

The second layout gets my vote. Setting them tightly on point packs a lot of punch both for color and movement. And if it were my project, I might use another stash fabric for the outer edges. A second light background would increase the scrappy effect and a darker color would make the pinwheels pop even more.

I like the little pinwheel in the center of the white blocks idea but that is a LOT more work!!

Great inspiration, Kathy! Pinwheels have been spinning around in the back of my head and I think your design board playing might have pushed me over the edge into actually starting a quilt :)

I love on-point layouts. Have fun with them. Zuma is a fun fabric line.

I have many of these scrap blocks from a project I’m working on and couldn’t throw them away! Thanks for the ideas! Have saved your pics as inspiration.

I'm glad I'm not the one who has to choose!

Both of the layouts are awesome. Love your digitizing skills. Keep it up.
