Clarissa is on the design wall

Here is block #11, fresh from the ironing board!
I cut into one of my brother's shirts to get that rich dark brown fabric. It was quite an emotional task to cut into the shirt, but I really do want to use these fabrics in quilts. Right now his shirts sit in a bag in the closet, and that's not what I want. So I took a deep breath and started cutting.

Here are all 11 of the Clarissa blocks on the design wall.
It's totally intriguing to study the effect of value and how each block looks so different.
I know I say this every time I post a new block, but I LOVE this quilting project!!!

Total number of triangles in these 11 blocks is 1,584!

Wow! What an amazing project - you are right, I had no idea that the value changes in those blocks would make them all look so different. Well done too for cutting into your brother's shirt. Much better to have the fabrics out and 'working' so that you can enjoy them and remember him. xx

I found sewing quilts with my FIL's shirts made me smile as I remembered happy times when he wore the shirts. The shirt quilts are treasured by our family. Your blocks look wonderful..I love how the colour placement changes the look of each block.

Almost tempted to do this one. Good for you cutting into your brother's shirts. Hiding them away...nooooo, use a little in each quilt you make and he will always be around you.

I can't get over how pretty this looks altogether. A work of art and with lovely sentiment as well.

Good choice to use the shirt. I know how hard they are to cut into, but how wonderful to have them wrap you up in warmth and reminders of or loved ones! This was a great color to include in the quilt.
I get a little choked up on many occasions when I am using my Dad's shirts in quilts.

I made a quilt based on Clarissa's original years ago, too. I enjoyed every minute because each block is a new adventure. Yours is going to be gorgeous!
