Design Wall of a "Beginning" Quilter
When I saw this on Quiltville, I laughed...it is ME!
I am a beginning quilter.
I do finish a few, but mostly I like starting new quilts.
And again this month I did not finish my "Roll, Roll, Cotton Boll" mystery that has been a failed UFO effort for two months now. Poor thing.
I did make some progress on piecing the borders, which are stitched in seminole style, and they are on my design wall today. So it's a little bit of progress, but still not a finish.
We (the quilt and I) had a chat, and I told her that she will be a beautiful quilt, but my life is just too busy right now. She is in a snit. She reminded me of all the new projects I have started this year instead of finishing her. I reminded her I am a beginning quilter!! HA HA!
And then I placated her with vague promises of a 2013 finish deadline. Hope I can follow through! See the completed quilts for August over at A Lovely Year of Finishes. And to see more design wall postings, hop over to Patchwork Times.

I love pieced borders! I am glad you and the quilt are still on speaking terms! Take care! Gail
I am glad you were both able to work it out. It is such a pretty quilt!
LOL...don't knock yourself down! You get PLENTY done!!
I never made that mystery quilt but I can tell it is a lot of sewing to make it. I think you are making very good progress.
I am have the same problem of finishing projects and starting new ones. I think I have a few quilt that are not speaking to me either. Looks like it will be a great finish.
That's why I don't try very many of Bonnie's quilts. When I did Easy Street we made a pact that I would concentrate on her and BOMs and that would be all until she was finished. Boy, was I sorry I made that pact. But I am thinking of doing it again when the new mystery comes out after Thanksgiving (if I have my Christmas stuff done by then). ;-)
I need that sign...it is so me, too! Your quilt looks like it will be VERY beautiful when it is finished, so tell her to stop her snitty attitude and you'll finish it when you're good and ready. :O)
I usually end up getting bored and just go on to the next one and come back to the project later...I love what is on your design wall.
Beautiful borders! I lose steam by the time I get to the borders - but love the look of pieced borders. Good job!
Don't let that talking quilt get the better of you. You'll work on her when the time is right!
*LOL* This is great, Kathy!
Oh, those vague promises!! The trouble they can get us in. If the quilt could read this (after all, it talks, doesn't it?), I'm sure it would catch on to the "vague" part being much stronger than the "promise". : )
Love the borders, btw.
You're not the only one whose WIPs talk to her. I've had a couple growl and yip at me as they languished in their boxes.
When I made RRCB I was pleasantly surprised that the pieced borders fit perfectly!
Please keep your quilts away from mine--they would be a BAD INFLUENCE and who KNOWS what they might say!! So far they have been fairly quiet and other than a horrified "oh my GOD she's not thinking of doing THAT" we're doing ok. I think they're scared of me. Don't tell them I'm a softie at heart.
I thought I was the only one who talked to her quilts, thread, scissors, sewing machines. I'm glad I'm not alone.... ;-)
Too funny! I have been known to have a conversation or two with my quilts too.:)
I am the opposite I hate starting new projects, we are a funny lot!! I am sure you will finish the quilt soon
This quilt of Bonnie's was one I pulled fabrics for but then abandoned early--too many tiny pieces for me ! Hope the quilt and you can make up someday!
Roll Roll Cotton Boll was a huge finish for me! I thought I would never get done with it!!! But if you've gotten it to the point of borders, it won't be any time at all and you'll be done - hooray!!!
Progress is progress. I didn't make that quilt, but it had lots of pieces. You are getting there!
