I am back to making rugs again. I made my first rather "ruffly" rug last year using up scraps, so now that I am an expert (ha!) I am trying again. This is a more co-ordinated rug using only yellow and blue fabrics. I decided I better get it finished because I just bought some sale fabric to make a third rug, which will be for my kitchen.
I am using Aunt Philly's needle tool and instructions, and once you get the center part of the rug made, this is a mindless and relaxing hand work project to enjoy.
I hope you will take time to slow down to turtle speed and enjoy some hand stitching today. Share your project by linking your blog post below.

THANK YOU for posting the link to the directions! I've attempted to make a rug in the past. Not being a crocheter, I had to learn that first while making the rug; and it ended up being all wavy; like the brim of a sunhat.
I LOVE the colors of the new rug! I hope to try again once I'm done my initial testdrive of my daughter's Knitting Loom; post to come on that later today.
Very pretty colors.
Seeing this reminded me so much of my mom - she made a collection of beautiful rugs like this, one in a heart shape that is in my spare bedroom. Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
Oh, I really like how the new rug is looking and also the colors, too. Looks like you are going to make a big one this time! Last one I made, I used cheap clothesline for the "filler". It worked out okay & saved fabric!
Very pretty colors! Your run looks so summery.
When I move I want to make a braided rug! But I have to wait until I move because I don't know what size I am going to need yet!
I definitely feel like going at turtle speed today after traveling all week! So good to be back visiting all my favorite blogs! ♥
Your rug reminds me of the baskets we used to make in the eighties. Wow! that seems so long ago.
Your rug is going to be so pretty. I really like the blue and yellow together.
Your rug is great, I brought that tool about 3 years ago and have not used it yet. I know I have at least 10 yards of fabric, I just have to see what I want to use.
Oh...your rug reminds me of the braided rugs my great grandmother used to make. I was about 10 or so when she showed me how to make them and I went home and tore up a bunch of flannel receiving blankets to make one. In the 70s my sister and I crocheted them. Now I want one for my living room!
I love the pretty blue and yellow of your rug. If you break your tool I can send you mine. Must have had it over 10 years now and I've never used it. : )
I have thought about rug making in the past now I think I will check that out...
Yours is so pretty!
I do like your blue and yellow rug. I have made a couple of these rugs with Aunt Philly's toothbrush tool. They are fun and really do eat of the stash. Maybe I should get mine back out again. Thanks for the inspiration.
