Design Wall Monday

This is the same project that was on my design wall last week - this month's UFO. I spent a lot of time auditioning various sashing strips. I thought I liked white until I found the perfect blue.  I joined the strips by machine on the front of the quilt, and am hand stitching the back seams. There is one more week left in the month to get a hanging sleeve on and finish the binding - totally doable...a "finish" is on the horizon!

Your blocks look great, and I love that bright blue sashing.

You are spot on. The white looked nice but now that you have added the blue sashing the quilt has really come to life.

The blue is perfect. Are the pieces put on using raw edge applique?

Great blue sashing, it really ties everything together. It really pays to audition fabrics first.

Love your quilt. It is striking with all the bright colors and yes, you have chosen the right color for the sashing. After I made the comment asking you to tell us how you created the blocks, I noticed you had already explained about the quilt in a previous post. Thank you for sharing.

Love the blue. Very striking.

I sent you an email offering some teeny tiny HSTs. Let me know if you want them.

Yes, on the Perfect Blue! Thanks for the reminder, LOL. I sewed my brains out, as Bonnie Hunter would say- at a Quilt Retreat. Time to rest and un-pack now.

Your last two posts make me want to try this prequilting technique. It sounds doable.

the blue fabric was perfect--makes me think of the sky. Peonies never last long enough! Treadling---maybe this fall I will dig out a treadle and relax more. I will think good thoughts for your brother.
