And I was thinking about all the candles and light, and before I knew it, I had turned my lighter coloured scraps into two half blocks with candles.
The two half blocks went from being an assorted pile of scraps... to being finished blocks very quickly, and the whole process felt inspired and peaceful.
I made all these blocks in a "quilt-as-you-go" style, so I just have to sew them together with the sashing (which I will stitch by hand) to finish this quilt.

To see more mid-month UFO reports, hope over to "A Lovely Year of Finishes".

Wow .... love this quilt!
I really like the look of this quilt
This quilt looks amazing! When I saw the tiny pic on the link up my first thought was "stained glass windows". You are going to have a stunning quilt on your hands!
What a great way to rescue those scraps!
My first thought was stained glass as well! It's really beautiful
This is such a beautiful quilt! And I love the candles - the perfect way to use up your scraps to make something that really means something to you and will remind you of that great memory every time you see it!
My goal is to make an IOP in the next 2 years. I hope I can remember your idea for the scraps because it's brilliant!
Great blocks and this will be a beautiful quilt!
I like this quilt, and especially the way you cut a large block to make two smaller ones.
I love what you did with it. The candles are so creative.
Always great eye candy. Very nice stain glass look. I love the creativity of the candles that you added.
I love the association with the Catherdral windows and candles. Made me think that this could be in honor of your brother and all he is going through. You have permanent candles burning for him.
Love those two half blocks!! I'm very partial to square quilts...satisfies the love of symmetric in me :-).

Great progress. I like your little candles!
Love how you rescued your ufo pieces and made something lovely out of them afterall.:)
It's a great quilt! I enjoyed going back and reading the post about the "Chompers" Toni
what beautiful blocks! You're right, they definitely look like stained glass.

I saw stained glass right away. Love the design process!! You have a talent for sharing your creating. I love the ticker tape look. It is funny to find out that our scraps are too big! And it is not as simple as it loos to make a ticker tape piece. Can't wait to see the finish. You are inspiring me!
Beautifully done! What a great way to use up scraps.
