Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the mid September hand stitching party!
Today we are relaxing with our colourful threads and yarns, and adding stitches to the beautiful creations we are bringing into to the world!

I decided I would try to finish the old cross stitch I wrote about a few weeks ago. Everyone was so encouraging to finish it (and I thank you for taking the time to make a comment and share your ideas!) I found all the needed floss colours in my DMC stash, with an abundance of the greens for some unknown reason!

I have seen some of our cross stitchers make a single strand grid that matches the pattern graph, so I tried that to get myself started, but look what happened - I'm out 1 square on the horizontal line on the right. UGH! Not a good start! But I'll keep working on it today and see if I can make more progress.

What are you working on today? Like up your blog post, or instagram, or photograph below and share your slow progress with us.

You are invited to the Inlinkz link party!

This is such a pretty cross stitch piece. I have been off with the grid sometimes too and just have to go back and fix it. I wonder why you have so much of the green floss. Wow! Enjoy your stitching.

sorry your stitching was off, I put in one too many hexies on one row of my piece work and didn't notice until I started to attach and then had to take one out

I have never been able to do counted cross stitcheries correctly--I mainly do printed cross stitching...I do love that picture you are working on--really pretty...don't worry about that one stitch off--no one will see that in the end!! Nice work hugs, Julierose

This little picture is so sweet! I actually have never put in guide lines. Maybe that's why I find myself off occasionally. At least they are easy to take out! Good luck!

A worthwhile pretty project with lovely floss colors. Glad you picked it up again. Empathy on the grid error as I’ve been there, done that.

That piece will be wonderful when finished, lots of patience.

I’m so glad you are going to finish this. It will be worth the time and effort. I always do a threaded grid on my large projects. It has helped me catch so many counting errors long before they get too big to rip out.

I'm working on a Sashiko project that was a guild workshop last week. I'll be able to share it soon, but happy to have some handwork to do.

Today I am resting. Yesterday we had Teddy's farewell party and today after cleaning up things...I am just resting. I might do some knitting later but that is all. The cross stitching looks so pretty and I hope you get the grid markings straightened up!

Your cross stitch is looking fabulous , Kathy. I have never tried to create a thread grid, but am fascinated to see others do that. Wishing you much progress. Thank you for hosting the link party. Happy stitching.
