I participated in the Laundry Basket mystery in May. For 2 weeks a different block pattern was posted daily, and by the end we had 225 plain or pieced blocks ready to put together.
Here is the quilt top on my design wall.
This was a fun way to build a quilt! I am delighted that it was mostly made from fabrics that were gifted to me from my quilty friend Leslie and some of my older neutral FQs. The colour work would have been better if it wasn't a mystery - I would have spread out those dark reds more and wouldn't have put the browns on the outside. But it was a mystery and the goal is to have fun not to make a perfect quilt! You just never know where everything will end up and which blocks will be together.
If Edyta does another mystery next spring, I'm going to try making my first monochromatic mystery! Her blue and white version is gorgeous!

Although Edyta's blue one is pretty and soft, I prefer your's and the life more colour gives to the design. This quilt pattern is very nice. Almost ALMOST....wish I had done it too!!
What a great mystery quilt Kathy and I like your colors very much! This is such a nice warm colored quilt and nice way to make a quilt top!.....love it and great finish.
Wow! I like the radiating effect.
Very pretty! I also love your colors better than the blues. The quilt looked washed out. Stronger and deeper blues would have added more to her quilt. But yours is striking! Hugs
This is lovely and I like the color layout and tones
I like it! I'm not good at mysteries, since I seldom like the color choices and without seeing the finished pattern, I can't figure out how to change the colors.
Love the colors exactly as placed; those deep reds really pull your eye into the quilt - WOW!
Just beautiful! You must be thrilled!
Wow! Will you add a border?
I followed along with the mystery every day too and made blue and white blocks from scraps. I have my blocks webbed together but I haven't gotten the rows sewn together yet. I was trying to decide if I wanted a border or not.
You are so good at making a whole quilt in only a month!! This is so pretty--reminds me of caramels ( I am a foodie even with fabrics!! hahaha)
Hugs, Julierose
Beautiful. Edytas blue version is lovely and was very tempting, but I love your version too.
Your version turned out beautifully! I wouldn’t have enough blues to make many blocks—I seldom buy blue fabric except for specific projects! I’ve year to finish the 2020 Mystery Quilt of Edyta’s.
I think it's such a beautiful top. It looks like a big multicolored starburst. I'm glad you had fun making it because that's the point right? ;)
Excellent version! Interesting to see where the colors land after the design reveals itself. I haven't made a mystery quilt in years and years. You are very brave to go this route!
