Design Wall Tuesday

Nothing is on the design wall that is in the design stage right now. I have my 4 placemats on the design wall to cheer me up (January pink, February yellow, March green and April blue).

My Sister's Scrap Challenge was on the design wall, but I really don't like it, so I can't look at it right now. It just reflects the state of the covid crisis in Ontario - it's a hot mess. The vaccine rollout here has been disorganized and painfully slow. It is causing crisis, conflict and death. I have a dear friend (since high school) in the ICU unconscious since Friday. She didn't qualify for a vaccine since she is not in a "high risk group". She got covid from her Mom who did have her first  vaccine and is also in hospital. No one will get a second vaccine until mid summer. It's an unbelievable national health crisis.

I will do lots of hand stitching this week to just stay calm and grounded.

Oh, Kathy--I am SO sorry to hear about the state of your friend and her mother.
Your placemats look wonderful, but they definitely cannot make up for the life of a dear friend. Praying that things will improve for her and her mother. And also that vaccinations will get distributed quickly and effectively from here on out.
You may need to pass on your Sister's Scrap Challenge to someone else, if it holds these painful associations for you.

I sympathize with the Covid pandemic in Ontario. It affects me as well. My mother lives in Bobcaygeon in a nursing home, the one that had 30 deaths of the 65 residents last April. She survived thankfully, but the restrictions for her husband to see her have been aweful. And clearly, we are not able to cross the border to see her. I hope things improve as you are in lockdown. How sad! I hope you were at least able to get one of the doses of the Vaccine. Sending happy thoughts to cheer you much as your mats are so upbeat and bright.

I am so sorry to hear this. Here in Maine we have been fortunate enough to have half of our state already protected. I'm certain there will be those who will refuse the vaccine even though it is available so we will continue to have a very long fight on our hands. I hope your situation will change for the better soon. At least you have 4 adorable placemats to make you happy. I love them all.

Oh Kathy, this is so sad! I am so sorry to know this. Unfurtunatly your friend's mother caught Covid before taking the 1st. dose or later, because the immunization will only be completed several days after the 2nd shot. April is the worse month since the begining here in Brazil, and 2021 numbers have already exceeded the 2020 totals. Thank God I received the 1st shot last Saturday, and my second one is is scheduled for July 24.
Only slightly more than 13% of the population already received the 1st vaccine.
It will be a long road to all of us really be safe.
Sending prayers your way.
Take care and be safe!

I hope your friend’s condition improves soon. Such a worrying time. We have had our first vaccine but are still staying home, distancing, masking etc. Your placemats are lovely. I am also making placemats for meals on wheels, using my scraps.

Your news of the Covid complications is unbearable - here I am, all vaccinated, emotions feel light and almost safe, yet others are not in same state of mind. My sister and husband just got their first vaccination, in London, Ontario, and until recently the delays and fears and frustration were terrible. I am so sorry for all the losses and all the restrictions and limitations. We all pray for improvemets in all parts of the world.

I'm so sorry for your situation. Things in Buffalo seemed to be hopeless not that long ago; now we feel so much more under control. I'm saying my prayers for everyone in Canada - we miss you!

Oh my, Kathy, I had no idea how bad it was for you with the vaccine. I do hope Canada can fix its distribution before too long.

Everything about this pandemic seems so unfair and that includes the missteps on vaccination distribution. What really makes me upset is the huge number of Americans who are refusing to get vaccinated. Some of the mass vaccination sites are being shut down because there aren't enough people showing up. Wish we could ship the excess to people who need it. Hoping your friend shows some improvement soon.

Nothing about what we are going through is fair or reasonable. In this modern world of ours you would think there would be no need for people to be in ICU I feel for you my friend and your friend and her mom. I hope you get some good news soon. Vaccination is going slow and we aren't old enough as yet. I will be taking my mom next week for her first shot. Stay strong friend and sending you a hug from me!

Oh Kathy! I'm so sorry about your friend and her mother! Hugs to you! We have lost several friends and family members in the last year to COVID, cancer and even one to murder. This has made my heart even more tender. Perhaps that is the one good result of this year, we are becoming kinder, hopefully.
Yes! Hand stitching is so soothing. I guess we are on the same wave length as my fingers are itching to some hand piecing....
Hugs to you and your loved ones!

I hope that your friend pulls through soon. It’s hard to maintain equanimity when the end is seemingly so close, but then it turns out to be not close at all. I do love your creations!
