Just say 'NO'!

Lest you think I have absolutely NO self control, I actually do have a teeny tiny bit on some days! I have so many wonderful quilts in progress that I really want to finish, so sometimes I just have to turn down a fun adventure. For example, I said "NO" to Moda Blockheads 3 because I hadn't finished Blockheads 1 or 2 and I really like both of them!

There are several mystery quilt projects that I have said "NO" to, either due to time, not having the right fabric on hand, or maybe even because I had a smidge of self control! I'm posting them here in case YOU are also a mystery quilt addict and might have missed one or two projects!

Dakota Inspired - This is Alycia's 12th mystery quilt pattern offered free on her blog. She writes easy to follow instructions with a clue posted each week that takes 1 - 2 hours to sew.

Grand Country Quilter Stitch Along- a 60" x 72" mystery with weekly clues, and so far they have sewn square-in-a-square blocks and HSTs.

Carole's Pachanga Mystery - these mystery quilts are lots of fun with a step posted each month so I keep telling myself it's not too late to join in!

Cape Wildflowers Mystery - a modern 2 colour quilt with steps every 2 weeks. This is a new designer (to me) and the project sounds intriguing!

Country Lane Quilts with Kathleen Tracy is running a small mystery project with monthly clues.

If there any others that I'm missing please don't tell me! I'll be in my sewing room hiding from temptation and trying to finish one of my UFOs!

You are too funny! I am determined not to click and be tempted to start something new..... happy sewing.

I agree with the 'NO' as you can overwhelm yourself and then not get anything accomplished - making yourself feel worse. Some years there isn't too many things that inspire, but there are a lot of very interesting quilt alongs this year. I have a lot of commission work for the year, so blinders on.

Wow--I am impressed that you have said "NO" this many times. :)

Oh No! It is too much temptation in a single post

I just made a list of WIP's and UFOs as well as projects that I haven't started but are in the queue. I have 18+! Oh my! I agree that although there are many tempting mystery projects and stitch alongs, I have to avoid all of them. Good luck with your UFOs. I am looking forward to seeing some finishes.

So far this year I am showing remarkable restraint- only one squirrel snuck in. I am doing QALS, but I am being selective. I just get too overwhelmed if I have too many going at once.

Good for you, Kathy!! I'm glad you are practicing how to say NO (right along with me, as I really like quilting along with Alycia.) Project QUILTING, the Stay at Home Round Robin, and my 2021 TABLE SCRAPS Challenge are QUITE enough to keep me busy without adding any Mystery Quilts into the mix!

I have WAY too many WiPs to consider any mystery QALs! But I do like to follow and do some aspirational downloads LOL.

No is such a little word but at times so difficult to say and stick to. I have so many UFO's but then I get inspiration and so I start something new.

I really do love mystery quilts, but I've sworn all but two off this year, Meadow Mist Designs and Bonnie Hunter's. Otherwise I'm diligently focusing on my UFO list! But all those mysteries are oh so tempting.

Your post made me laugh! Well done for saying no, which I know is so hard to do but it's when you wake up in the night and your mind goes into should I? Could I? Do I have time for one more project? LOL happens to me frequently!

Yup, I totally hear you!!! I need to read this post every time I am tempted to join in another sew-a-long that I have no time for. Thanks for your inspiration!!

LOL, I get it!! You have a lot going on at once, and there are too many fun things to choose from. It is one reason why I always give a lot of sizes with my mysteries, instead of just one.

I've been good at not joining any new QALS (except Joy's Table Scraps) because I have far too many flimsies from earlier QALs,sitting around not quilted. That doesn't mean I haven't been chasing any squirrels. Now I have to buckle down and get some things quilted before gardening season arrives (yes it will come eventually) and I get too busy outside.

LOL Well said, and I agree! One can only do so many and keep up.

Oh great! You have great strength to say NO to all these temptations, but you DID include their names and links so first thing we/I did was check them out. Now it is ME who must exhibit great strength to resist them all! Well, I could just save the sites... just in case. 8-)))
