I started sewing scraps together in January and trimmed the sets to 3.5" x 9.5". This was a guild block of the month idea in the fall and I really enjoyed it, so kept making more. Let me tell you it lead me down a rabbit hole! A deep and colourful scrappy rabbit hole!
I worked on a few layouts with solid yellow bakground rectangles, but it just wasn't speaking to me. So it sat for a while waiting for inspiration.
Then I got the idea to sew 3 strips together and voila... I started liking it a lot more! These blocks measure 9.5" square and usually have between 28 and 30 scraps in each block.
Anything and everything is going in here! It's so fun to sift through the scrap bin - cut.sew.repeat!
But I'm telling you, this creative process makes one heck of a mess. It's like a wild squirrel was running around in here! LOL
I don't know where this project is going, but I do know I need to put it away for a while. It gets to a point where I just can't stand the mess anymore and need to clear off the table and work on something with a more organized process...like maybe my UFO of the month!
Too funny! YES that mess is nuts when you start sorting and using up scraps! Fun project. I literally laughed out loud at the wild squirrel!!
Playing with scraps is so much fun, but it does get messy. At least it is a happy mess. Nice scrappy blocks.
Seems like we never reach the bottom of the scrap pile, LOL! Wild squirrel indeed!
I love they way you have decided to lay them out. Yes, making these scrappy quilts makes such a mess, but it's so fun to look at all the fabrics together.
I've been very squirrelly this month and I'm starting to worry about all the squirrels hibernating in my studio. Sometimes when I unearth one, I can't remember what I was doing and where I should go next.
I love this idea!
LOVE your choice for those scrappy bits! Best of luck with your UFO, Kathy.
So fun! Love the anything and everything approach. But I get the need to establish order after a period of chaos.
I'm liking the three strips sewn together to make the blocks! Yep, its a mess to work on something like that and it seems to grow.
Ohhh buried in scraps...that's happiness!! Happy Wednesday!
Oh dear, I want to make some blocks like this. Really such a pretty way to use scraps.
Very colorful! Looking forward to seeing what this squirrel grows up to be.
Oh! Yes, creativity is messy! Love it!
