I pieced block #2 on my favourite white Singer featherweight 221K sewing machine. Here it is sewing the modified hourglass blocks. It is 55 years old and still sews like a dream!
Here is my block #2 mostly made from the Strawberry Jam line of fabric plus some greys. The centre of my block is hand embroidered according to Jacquelynne's pattern. I'm so happy with how it turned out and think it goes together well with block #1.
There is another fantastic giveaway this month which is an Aurifil thread box! To enter your name in the draw to win the thread all you have to so is leave a comment below. Do you use Aurifil thread? And if so, which is your favourite?
My favourite is the 50 weight thread for machine piecing and quilting. I usually buy the neutral thread in large cones, but the 1300 metre size is easier to use as it fits on all machines without needing a thread stand.
Congratulations to Nanette!
I have been using Aurifil thread since 2003 for applique, then I started usin it for my machines! At that time there was only 1 Distributor and she was a jewel.
Kathy I love your blocks for Happy... BOM! Doing a great job on keeping up with your projects!

I have never used Aurifil thread. I would love to win some to try it out.
I have used a spool or two and my machine seems to like it, the orange spools. I would love to have more as it doesn't seem to be as linty as some I have used. Thanks.
I have never used Aurifill thread--I would like to try it tho;...thanks for the chance hugs, Julierose

The white Singer is sweet. I'm glad that you are using it. I also use Aurifil thread 50 wt when machine piecing.
I have never used Auriful thread so can't say which is my favorite : ) . mastiffsue1@gmail.com
I love using Aurifil, I also use the 50 wt. When I started out, I found that it was the most recommended type so I gave it a try and stuck with it!
Your block is so pretty! I love Aurifil thread, and have been using it for all my hand piecing projects.
Yes, I love Aurifil thread! I use it for piecing & quilting. All my machines love it too!
I have only used the 50 wt Aurifil. I would love to try some of the other weights.
I use the 50wt a lot. Not sure about any other weight.
I have never used this thread. I am still learning. But it would be great to try it to see the difference it may make.
I love the Aurifil Mako 50, so smooth and lint free, the perfect thread, in my opinon.
I use Auriful for piecing all my quilts, love it! I normally buy the big sized cones but take the smaller spools to retreats.
I am ashamed to say I do not use Aurifil for piecing, but I do have a neutral spool and I will try it.
I have never used Aurifil. I am still a novice so learning so much.
I love aurifil. I use it for sewing, quilting, and applique. Dove grey 2600 is my favorite.
I have not used aurifil thread yet but have wanted to try it! I have heard the 50w is great for machine quilting. I quilt on my vintage domestic machines (old Singers and an old Elna 62C).
I love Aurifil thread! I use the 50 weight for machine piecing, free motion quilting, and needleturn applique. It is so versatile.
I only use Aurifil thread on my Berninas. Beautiful colors and terrific stitching!
I have never used Aurifil thread but have heard a lot of good things about it. Please use my email 'happytrails2u-rv@att.net. Thank you.
I love using Aurifil thread!
Since Aurifil is less popular here in Luxembourg, Europe than other brands, I have never used it yet.

Aurifil 50 wt is my favorite for piecing and machine quilting
I have not tried Aurifil thread yet. Would be something looks like I may have to do. Thanks for another great giveaway - this would be a great way to try it out. deanbren87@gmail.com
My Aurifil selection is growing, but I confess I've been known to save it because "it's the good stuff" just like the towels that only get used for company. I use 50 weight and also have a vintage Singer - a 401A.
basaran.family@rogers.com
My favorite quilting thread is Aurifil #50. Love your block in such gorgeous fabrics.
laura84watt(at)gmail(dot)com.
I haven't used Aurifil thread. Those I know that do use it seem to love it. It would be fun to win some so I could give it a try also. Thanks for the chance.
I has been interesting to see the many ideas on each of the bloggers sites.
I have been using Aurifil 50 wt for piecing for at least 10 years. Those large spools last forever! I haven’t quilted with it yet, always seem to stick with King Tut.
I have been using Aurifil thread since 2003 for applique, then I started usin it for my machines! At that time there was only 1 Distributor and she was a jewel.
Kathy I love your blocks for Happy... BOM! Doing a great job on keeping up with your projects!
Enjoy your visit
I love your 'slow stitching' version of this BOM! Sounds like you've enjoyed a long, lazy weekend -- yay! I found (and followed you) on instagram -- it's nice to find old friends in new places! :)

I have never used this thread but look forward to giving it a try.
tats4boo@gmail.com
Cute block! I love Auriful 50 wt and use it almost exclusively. I've also tried the 40 wt but it doesn't work as well in my machine. Thanks for offering a giveaway :)
I love Aurifil threads. Recently discovered colour # 2375 which is a great neutral for piecing...and I like it in the finer weight for applique!
I would really like to try the Aurifil thread. I have read about it so often and would love to win this. Thanks so much for the chance.
I have never used Aurifil thread.
I have not used Aurifil thread, but I would like to try it.
I use Aurifil 50wt for piecing and FMQ all the time. I usually use one of the creamy shades or lgt gray for piecing, but love to use variegated threads for FMQ. I finally broke down and bought a cone of #2000, but now I can't find the thread stand I bought months ago at a Connecting Threads sale. I put it in a safe place because I was constantly having to move it.
Pat
I need to buy some more Aurifil 50 wt
I use Aurifil a lot for piecing, so 50wt is my favorite.
I haven't used Aurifil yet, I hear it is wonderful. Love your featherweight! I have several treadles, they are fun to sew with.

I love Aurifil for piecing too - the 50 wt.
Nope, I've not used Aurifil. I find that I get stuck on what's available at my local shop. But we are traveling right now and I hope to find some to try on the baby quilt I'm working on right now.
I haven't used Aurifil thread. I like your color combination and fabrics you used on your block.
Once I was introduced to Aurifil thread, there was never another for me. I like the 50 weight for piecing and applique, and the embroidery thread is wonderful.
I have only used the 50 wt but would love to win this group.
I have one reel of aurifil thread only but it's nice to use!
I got some 50 weight aurofil in neutral and light blue to try out after hearing so many say how great it is to needle. I love it for hand piecing and it works well on my machine. I'd better go print out this pattern and draw it out for embroidery this week. Enjoy the vaca.
Kathy, I have used Aurifill for about 6 years now and really like quilting with it. It all started when I bought my first spool of 50 weight to try, when it was on sale. It became my favorite thread, but 50 weight is my favorite and most used. I am always behind on keeping up with blogs I subscribe to, except yours sometime every Sunday for the Slow Stitching! I look forward to those happy, no drama posts so thank you for providing a calm and enjoyable place to encourage slowing down and enjoying some stitching.
Glad you are enjoying Instagram! I love Aurifil 50 wt the best.
I have not sewn with Aurifil thread but would like to give it a try. cmberry@lsu.edu
I have used Aurifil --- I just picked up another spool!! IT is wonderful

I like to use Aurifil 50wt
Cute, cute block! I use 50wt. Aurifil mostly.
I just got my white featherweight back from my daughter. She said it was working so I had Tom clean and oil it and with a few tension adjustments I got it working again. I think it might have been driver error. Mine belonged to my husbands grandmother and it brought so many wonderful memories of her to see it again. Your second block is very cute!
I love your embroidered block!
I use aurifil 50 weight for piecing!
I use Aurifil all the time. Love it. Very thin for piecing get great seams.

I use the 50 wt Aurifil for all my piecing.
I have just started using Aurifil for piecing.I love how fine it is and not thick like cotton thread. It is very nice for doing binding as well. Hope even your blog stalker is eligible ...haha!!!
I use Aurifil for everything....so many colors makes it easy to match if I need to.
I love the 50 wt Aurifil for my quilts. It sees beautifully every time.
I love the 50 wt Aurifil for doing all my piecing. It is strong and really helps for making the seams disappear. I use a lot of white, off white, and black and even purchased one of the large cones when it was 25% on sale.
I have never used Aurifil thread, but would like to try it in the future.
Your block is so sweet...perfect colors and fabrics!

I love Aurafil neutrals in the 50 wt.

I've recently started sewing with aurifil threads. I like the neutrals esp. lt. beige & dove. I'm drooling over the colorful aurifloss kit which is a bit pricey for my budget but is on my Christmas wish list!
I currently use only the 50 weight thread but plan to expand my horizons this coming year. JewelryBoxJoy@aol.com
No, I don't use Aurifil thread but would love to win some to try!
I have not used Aurifil thread but would love to try some. tdcehlers@yahoo.com
I use only Aurifil for piecing, 50 weight cotton, generally a medium grey or medium beige.
The shop where I bought my machine ($$$$) recommended using Aurifil thread, but I haven't gotten around to buying it yet. I have been pretty happy using polyester thread so far, but will keep Aurifil in mind, especially as I learn to do more quilting on my home machine.
I have not used Aurifil thread but I would love to some day.
I use primarily Aurifil 50 wt. and the colour depends on the fabric I'm working with so I don't really have a favourite.
I always use Aurifil, love it
I love using Aurifil 50 weight for machine quilting.
I have only used Aurifil thread (50 wt) when machine quilting. Thank you for the chance to win the prize pack. Cheers
First of all I want to say your block is lovely! I love Aurifil--their 50 wt for piecing was my first encounter, but I am now loving trying out the thicker threads, 12 and 28, and am looking forward to trying their floss. I also have the 80 wt (?) in neutrals which I plan to use for EPP and have heard so many good things about. Thank you for this giveaway opportunity! rebecca@sover.net
I use Aurifil thread for piecing and quilting. I love the colors available and the beautiful results I get on my Quilt projects. I am excited about also trying the embroidery thread with appliqué hand projects. All cotton is great. Aurifil 50/2 is best for quilting for me. The smaller size.
Such a pretty block this month. I use Aurifil at least 85% of the time and 50 weight is what is in my drawer. I'd like to try some of the 28 Wt and maybe some of the 60wt.

hi - I love Aurifil thread. Just so smooth when doing applique. I have a box of neutrals and have added some colors overtime. I use 50 wt. I would love to try their embroidery floss.
Aurifil is my favorite thread to piece with! I've been using the Mark Lipinski neutral collection for the last six years and manage to use up most of the box of twelve spools in under two years. When I switch to another brand I'm always surprised at how much more lint there is to clean up in the bobbin area. And, I appreciate my Aurifil thread even more.
I too have and use my OLD Singer portable all the time. It's the best investment I ever made in an appliance. I bet it would love to be fed some Aurifil threads.
I have a few spools of Aurifil. Sure would like to use more!
I have never used this thread, but love thread. When I go in Fabric Store, the first place I stop is the thread display.
I haven't tried Aurifil thread yet...but it's on my list of things to try. So, winning would really help that one out! :) Beautiful block! I love seeing everyone's work! (froggytonya at yahoo dot com)

I LOVE LOVE LOVE Aurifil threads... I use 50 wt in my sewing machine for piecing quilt tops... then I use 28 wt for stability stitching by hand on those quilt tops and for top stitching bags I make... Finally 12 wt is my fave for big stitching with flair!!! Thanks for the chance :D Kathi kathi.clower66@gmail.com
Sven Thorson (my true love machine) will only accept 50wt Aurifil - he skips stitches if i try to thread him with any other thread, so i don't (cuz who wants a berserker Viking in the Magick Shoppe?!?)
Yes, I have used my 1st spool of Aurifil last month! 50 weight. I was surprised it is made in Italy & its so strong yet silky & smooth sewing. Love your block! Hope my entry isn't too late? mainlineministries@hotmail.com
Would love to win the Aurifil. I enjoy many kinds of hand work.
I have used Aurafil 6 strand floss, the 80wt cotton and the 12wt as well, I love the ease of the 6 strand on a spool and the colors of all the thread are vibrant. I would love to take part in this give away thank you.
Very pretty block, I've still to try Aurilfil so I'd love to win
I have never used Aurifil thread, but I'd love to try it. Your block is lovely.
I love the boxed sets that go with a fabric designers line! I made a wall hanging with the matching aurafil thread used to machine quilt it, it was a perfect match to the fabric!
I have not used this kind of thread before but I sure would like to give it a try.
Who can.t use thread? I love the colors and strength of this thread.
I have admired Aurifil thread from afar for several years. I especially love the designer curated boxes. Perhaps I can win some to find out how much I love it in person...
