Scrappy Saturday

A bit of progress has been made with my green scraps this month. Sally posted the instructions to make the most adorable little owl block on her blog and I just had to try making one. Here are all the bits and pieces cut out for the owl... that's one complex little block!

And here she is... meet Olivia Owl! This is a 5" block (unfinished) and cute as a button! As you can see I had to remake the eye sections since the fussy cut pieces I had chosen (in the photo above) didn't pop enough.
OMG! Total cuteness!
I adore her!
I'm not sure if she will be a "one of a kind" block or if she will eventually have some friends joining her. It was very time consuming, but we shall see. Did you know that a group of owls is called a "parliament"? Sally made a parliament - click here to see it!

Here she is with the scrappy green star blocks I made this month. These  blocks will join the collection of Maverick Stars
Linking up to the green RSC party over at Angela's.

I love your owl! It is so cute - I never think of making paper piece blocks it does look time consuming. I will go look at the link to see the "Parliament" of owls - I had never heard that

Happy 88 to you also! I love Classical, I started at the age of 6. I must admit I do not drag myself to the piano and play like I used to, but love it!

What a cute owl! I have to wonder if he'll get some other tiny animal friends. Like the stars too!

TOO cute!! Your Maverick Stars remind me of the set of blocks that I have sitting in a drawer up in the sewing room. It's been a LONG time since I've added to that collection! I really miss making them...

Your little owl is so cute! I found the fabric choice for the eyes to be tricky, too, but yours turned out great! I always love those star blocks, too.

Love hootie's eyes! Such a cheerful little owl.

I completely understand why your owl is looking up and to the left. He wonders how anyone who has made 6 trillion Alamo stars can consider the owl pattern to be complex. :)

Oh, so cute! Great fussy-cut eyes. Before I read the post I had noticed that the eyes were not the same as the squares in the photo and I wondered about that. Thanks for explaining. :)

I love your owl and I loved Sally's reference to you 6 trillion (very tiny) Alamo stars. I have to paw through my Kaffe collection to see if I can find suitable eyes and then get up the courage to actually cut up some Kaffe fabric.

It's fun seeing everyone's owls and what they used for eyes. Yours is another cutie!
