Florence Block #6 |
Block # 8 has already been posted for the Hand Piecing Quiltalong so I'm still behind, but I am delighted with how this block #6 turned out.
Although it is cute, this block was a struggle since twice I sewed together sections that did not belong together.
Here's a photo of the first problem.
Instead of sewing the pinwheel sections together for the centre, I sewed them side by side to be the second row. WRONG! I have no idea why this block seemed so hard, but sometimes life is just like that.

Your fabric choices are so pretty! I'm glad your block turned out okay eventually - we all have moments like that, and they are so frustrating. It's as if you're a brand new stitcher or something!
How disheartening to have to keep unpicking your carefully made hand stitches! It is a very pretty finish (once it got there). :)
....but it is so pretty now that it is right.
Pretty colors in your block. As I was String piecing today I sewed 3 pieces backwards,
Such a pretty block! I'd mis-sewed one of mine, also, which surprised me as I thought it would be difficult to make a mistake while handsewing. Why I thought that?...who knows
Pretty soft color - your points are great! If I were 10 years younger I would participate!!!!! Carpel Tunnel gets me on my left hand and affects my shoulder - darn! BUT that is what they make braces for! 2 surgeries did not fix them so no Number 3 in my future! You are doing good!
I've done the same thing with these blocks! At least I'm in good company. Being that the seams are so short, I didn't mind picking them out....much. :)
I sewed the parts on this one wrong too. I think the pinwheel hypnotized me.
Block is looking good. Thankfully these are small blocks so not to many stitches to unpick! Thanks for linking up with the Hand Pieced QAL!
