Piano Day |
Did you know there was such a thing as a day to celebrate pianos?! It is held on the 88th day of the year because there are 88 keys on this wonderful instrument that is being celebrated!
In addition to being an avid quilter, I am also an avid piano player. I have played many pianos over the years, including this one that was outside the public library for a month last fall.
I play for relaxation and personal enjoyment, and I like the challenge of keeping my brain sharp by learning new music.
One of my piano related life highlights was seeing The Piano Guys last summer. It was a great show and Jon Schmidt is an inspiring pianist. The big screen often showed close ups of his hands and I loved that!
Here's one of my favourite Piano Guys songs.

Wow! That song was fabulous. I got chills. I love to watch the Piano Guys perform.
I like my piano bench cover loose. That way I can remove it when playing.
Happy to learn something new about you. I would love to know how to play and I asked my parents for lessons when I was young but ... I know just a little bit of songs or should I say parts of songs which I probably don't remember now. When I retire it's a must do thing to keep brain sharp and Alzheimer far.
I'm with Elle. If you're not removing it while playing, it will just slid every which way and it annoyed me. So I would say elastic. It is a very pretty cover. ;^)
Great post, Kathy! Didn't know you played piano. I started piano as a child, but switched to violin. Now I wish I had stuck with piano AND played violin. (I made all 4 of my children learn piano, and not one of them regrets it.)
That is one of my favorite Piano Guys songs, too, and I was thrilled when they performed it when we saw them last November. They put on a great show!
The Piano Guys are wonderful....and they are coming to the Fabulous Fox in St Louis!!! We are going to get tickets tomorrow. Thank you for sharing!!!
SEW jealous!!! LOVE the Piano Guys (and 2Cellos, too!) That will be a great bench cover when you get it done, but I have no opinions about the most appropriate application. Not a pianist (opted for dance, instead.)
I recovered my bench like I was doing upholstery. It worked great. I've done several quilted chairs the same way (the bench was just fabric).
Fabulous! Love this and thanks for sharing.
