Indigo Stars

There are five Saturdays in the month of August so there is an extra week for the Rainbow Scrappers to work on our dark/indigo blocks. I made a couple of Maverick Star blocks this week. It's another long term project I work on whenever I have some scrap triangles to use up.

The first block is a golden star on dark blue fabrics.

The second block is a dark star on a light background.
Love that millenium fabric in the middle!  Can you believe that fabric is 15 years old this year, and I still have some of it hanging around!?!

Here are the dozen maverick star blocks I've made so far. I have a few colour gaps to fill in, especially with dark colour background blocks.
To see what the other RSC'ers are sewing, hop over to SoScrappy.

So happy to have another week to play this month. Beautiful blocks. Glad you put your Y2K fabric to use.

Those stars are looking good with all of the contrast that you are stitching in!

Making those scrappy stars infrequently helps increase their happy scrappiness. Yes!

Um...yes, I can believe you have fabric that old since I'm guilty too--lol! I love the blue stars!

Isn't 15 years kind of young in the life of fabric for a hoarder--I mean collector? : )
I love the way you keep several long term projects going and let them grow gradually. I do not possess that kind of patience, though I am trying to develop it with a couple of projects.
I think the way there are just a few random dark backgrounds amid your stars gives the quilt more personality than if they were more evenly balanced.

I love star blocks anyway, and these are especially gorgeous! Love them!

Great minds and all that...I had strips of that same millenium fabric to use for the fish...but I didn't use it...except now I will...

Fun blocks! I probably still have fabric from 15 years ago in my stash. Hmm, maybe I shouldn't look too hard.

Great blocks. Especially love the gold on indigo. What size are they?

You have great Maverick Star blocks. I am really impressed with the amount of different quilts ant technics you can work simultaneously. Think about a post telling us how you manage this. Hugs

I like the Maverick Stars. Do you use Bonus Triangles on these. I have an abundance of them with my Lori Holt SAL. I was thinking of making hourglass units with them but they are so tiny. I swear the scraps multiply while I'm sleeping. Yea for 5 Fridays. That means 3 paydays.

I still have Millennial prints in my stash too. (Or maybe I shouldn't have owned up to it!) Somehow I haven't been able to figure out what to do with them, even after all these years.

The Maverick stars light on dark and dark on light will make such a dramatic quilt! Hard to believe you have 15 year old fabric left in the scraps when you work so hard to clear the scraps. It must have been hiding out in some corner. ; - )
