Finished Quilt!

Big announcement today...
drum roll please....
the braid quilt is finished! This quilt has been "in progress" for about 15 years. And it has finally become a useable quilt.
Finished size: 57" x 72"
I machine quilted it on my domestic sewing machine in horizontal squiggly lines following the braids. Using this quilting design prevented lots of twisting and turning of the quilt, but still gives it the zig zag effect.

I extended the quilting lines across the border right to the edge of the quilt, so I didn't have to figure out another quilting design in the border. That was genius if I do say so myself!
The backing is just a boring piece of sale yardage pieced down the middle.

YAHOO!!!! Great finish! I love this scrappy quilt! What are you going to finish next???

What a fantastic finish.. With your quilting , does your machine have a squiggly pattern or do you free motion it with a walking foot or free motion foot

This quilt is wonderful. Now don't you wonder why it took you 15 years (not that anyone would know that if you didn't tell them). Sometimes a simple quilt design is the best solution and that blue border really sets off the quilt perfectly.

Yeah....it looks great and the quilting lines into the borders was a great idea.

Love the scrappy goodness of a braid, and the colors on this one have a richness that adds depth. Ain't it purdy? : )
Great finish!!

Good for you!!! I love a long time finish. It's much more satisfying that a regular finish. Maybe it's because it has been on my mind for a lot longer. Pat yourself on the back and have someone give you a hug.

this has certainly been waiting patiently for you to finish it!! very nice and like the quilting, gives me an idea as I have my steps to the altar waiting to be done, no good at quilting so put it off, not a long as you though, I only made it a couple of months ago.A question, do you start the quilting in the middle, lots of books say to but then it must be difficult to join up in the centre

Congratulations - definitely worth the perseverance. I love the rich colours of this and, appropriately, it seems to have a kind of autumnal feel to it.
