Slow Sunday Stitching - Fergus Highland Games

Yesterday I spent the day at the Fergus Highland Games helping to hand quilt a beautiful butterfly quilt made by the Grand Quilt Guild. This is Virginia (owner of Undercover Quilts) and Mary who started the hand quilting on Saturday morning.
The butterfly blocks were made by the guild members and sewn into a quilt top for us to quilt today. Some of the blocks are appliqued, and some are pieced. All are beautiful!
Isn't this a neat little thread holder? it has a little peg for a thimble to sit on. Virginia was using the spoon underneath the quilt and I was just using the fingers on my left hand, which are quite tender after hours of quilting.

The batting on this quilt is a mid loft Quilters Dream Poly and it is very nice to hand quilt. Have you used this batting before? I've used the Quilters Dream Cotton before and this is just as nice.

I'll be there again today, quilting the day away and enjoying the entertainment in the Heritage Tent.

There are scottish dancers, singers and storytellers to enjoy.  Come visit and say hello!

What are you hand stitching today?

I love using Hobbs Poly Down. I also love using wool. I don't use cotton anymore cause it is just too hard to hand quilt. The butterfly quilt is beautiful. Not sure I will get to any slow stitching today, but hopefully I will be able to do a few applique stitches before the day ends.

Me gusta mucho ver a las mujeres sentadas al rededor de un quilt acolchandolo a mano.
Disfruta mucho del dia de hoy!!!

So far, I have only used cotton for hand quilting but I plan to use something different for the next one - maybe wool.

I really need to get me one of those spool holders!!!

I attended the games one year - long ago. I always rub hand cream (Vaseline Intensive Care) onto the tips of my fingers at night and it helps heal them. That is a very pretty quilt and I like the rectangular setting.

That butterfly quilt is so pretty. How nice that it has volunteers to quilt it.
