It's scrappy Saturday!
I have been digging in the scrap bags to find some bright greens to cut and sew this month. This is my favorite 3" spool block with the Grinch's eyes in the middle!
So far in August I have sewn 8 spool blocks, which when joined together give me two more 6" blocks to add to the growing pile.
The spool block was the Bonnie Hunter leader/ender challenge from 2 years ago (see the post and the pattern here). I was late to get in on the spool craze and started making blocks last summer.
Here is the pile of spools I have made so far. Can you guess how many 3" spool blocks are in this pile?!? (Hint - remember that each block in the pile is made from 4 spool blocks)
The closest guesser will win a fat quarter of one of my favorite green fabrics. Good luck!

Super fantastic blocks, and I think there are 208 of them . I would like to win those greens for my La Passion.

324! Great pile of spools. Love the grinch in that spool block. So fun.
I'll go 188. They are looking good. Cool Grinch
I will say 96
My guess is 100 blocks with 4 spools per blocks so 400 spools. Whatever the number, you sure did a LOT of them. It will make such a sweet quilt.
I'll say 144? It's certainly going to be a fabulous quilt when done.
I'm guessing 336 because I think that is about how many I have! I haven't decided what I will do with mine yet.
I like that Grinch one too! I'm leaving with a smile.
There are certainly a lot of them. My guess us 208.
My guess is 272. Can't wait to see a finished product.
My guess is 128 spools, or 32 blocks. Whatever number, it a lot! They look so pretty in their pile.
My guess is 324. However many it is, it is a great stack of spools.
Hummmm....I will guess 82 blocks. I'm working with scrappy greens right now, too. I have to make two more blocks for a scrappy green quilt top but am running very low on greens and also the scrappy tans for the backgrounds!
Love the green. My guess would be 52 blocks or 208 spools
What a great stack!! 400? Love the grinch!!
Love your blog and your enthusiasm. I am guessing 480 spools. Stay scrappy! G
Wow! That is a great pile of blocks! I'll guess 216... wow! Way to sew!
Your spools are fantastic. I definitely did a number on my 1.5" scraps with spools last year!
Kathy, que bonitos son tus bloques, felicitaciones a la futura afortunada..

Hmm, not good at guessing, but I will say 212 spools. You are tenacious with your scrap challenge projects. I would give up and make small projects with just a few blocks completed. I admire that you keep plugging away and eventually will make nice, big quilts.
That's an enormous pile of blocks! My guess is 365.
I'm saying 220 - you are amazing!
And Good Luck to us all.
Hugs
My guess is 472. :) They're beautiful! sarah@forrussia.org
I'm looking forward to seeing the completed quilt whenever it is finished. I guess 164 spools.

That's quite a pile of blocks. I'll guess it contains about 280 spools.

Hmmm... I would guess around 264 spools.
I'm going to guess 227! This is on my someday list, after I get a bunch of other scrappy projects finished.
I'm guessing 300.
That's an impressive stack of spools you have there. I can't wait to see them in the finished project. I'm guessing 420.
what very nice blocks, you must have the biggest stash of scraps in the world. all you keep producing! Lots of blocks maybe around 500 in total or 125 if counting the 4 as one
Great load of spools xx
I counted 50 blocks so 200 spools?
It looks like quite a stack! I will guess 296 spool blocks!
Who wouldn't guess for a chance at that fabric...love it! My guess is 244
I'm guessing 204. Most excellent block to use up scraps. Wish I had sewed along with everyone.
