Design Wall Monday - Baby Quilt

On my design wall today is a baby quilt made from Robert Kaufman flannels from the Daisy Love collection. These are such lovely flannels, so plush and soft, and washed up amazingly well. They are a joy to work with.
However, these are sooooooo not my colours! I think the quilt looks ugly, and just want to be done with it as soon as possible!
My plan is to finish 3 baby quilts (the first one is here) for my neighbour to pick from when her baby arrives. I am betting on a boy, but the Grandma-to-be is sure it's a girl (because she already has 3 grandsons!) I am anxious to move on to quilt #3 which will be made from fabrics that I really like!

Oh I am sorry you don't like your quilt! I was going to say that I love the way the lavender mixes with that green...just sayin'. I recently finished piecing a top for an "I Spy" quilt that I don't like. Boy, what a crestfallen gal I was for a while. but I packed it away for a bit--maybe some magic transformation will happen in the closet where it's hanging and I will like it when I take it out! LOL Hugs, Julierose

It's not so ugly! The overall look will change once you quilt it and hopefully you will like it a bit more. I am sure the recipient will love to receive it.

I think it is that unusual green that clashes - I am not a big fan either, but I have found that quilts look different when completed and you may discover you like it after all!

You did a great job at placing the fabric in a pleasing way. Not your fault if that green doesn't want to play nice. It doesn't look that bad and I am sure she will appreciate it and might even like that green. Hang in there. It is almost done.

Sorry to say but these are my colours and I find something odd about the blocks!!! Sorry friend..maybe as others have suggested it is the green. Maybe try replacing it with a pink and see what happens.

Just trying to help you love your quilt!

Well, I had just that same experience with a quilt I just finished...yuck!! However, I like yours, and the new owner of my quilt really likes it...and the new owner of your quilt will love it!!

I don't think the baby will care, but if you do you could try subbing some of the other colors (if you have enough) for the green and see if you like it better. When I enlarge the photo I can see the bits of green in some of the other prints, but that isn't very obvious when you look at it as a whole. The green blocks do seem to stand out.

I like the colors, some baby will enjoy snuggling with this quilt!

I think it is the green print that takes over the quilt - pretty line, but the green is over the top.

It's that darn green again. I can see why you chose it because the colour is in the other fabrics but it is too heavy and makes you sad. Do you have enough of another colour to sub it out? If the green was used as a rectangular piece in the layout rather than a square would it be less pronounced?

I am sorry you are unhappy with the quilt. I zoomed up the photo, and I thought it reminded me of a garden and the the green would be the leaves on the flowers. Others have suggested replacing it, which is one option. Bonnie Hunter said something like, if you don't like the fabric cut it smaller. Maybe you could use the green and make some small 4 patch blocks with it. Either way the baby will love it!

I am in the minority as I like the green!!! I am sure once quilted and bound it will look great

It's so hard to work with colors that you don't favor. I like the blues, greens and purples. It's a cute quilt.
