At the beginning of 2010 I had set a goal of using up scraps from my quilt tops by piecing the backings. Throughout the year I tried to stick to that - to see some of my pieced backings click here, here, and here.
Here is the pieced backing for January's UFO.
I used up every bit of the leftover fabric, except for the lime green left over from the borders, and the dark blue/teal that I bought for the binding.

I am also trying to use up all the white on white fabric that I have, since I find that on some of my older quilts using this kind of fabric, the white has a yellow tinge. Can you see what I mean on this old quilt?

Pieced backings are good on so many levels. Using up the extras is good, and it also just makes the quilt more interesting. Good luck using up those WOW prints, I have seen the yellow tinge upon occasion as well. Congratulations on getting those UFOs finished up. What a great feeling.
Hi Kathy ... I'll bet one of your "minis" cut out that small corner of batting. jr
Your pieced backing looks great! Nice job using up those scraps!!
Isn't it satisfying to focus on only one UFO? I love a pieced backing! It is great to turn those leftover bits into something unique, though it can be time consuming to do so :)
I hope you find a loose batting piece that you can stitch into that corner. Too funny!
You are rolling along as always Kathy! I love the bit of lime :) You really do inspire me to start using my scraps!
way to go!
oh no I LOVE those white or cream tone on tone fabrics....I wonder what has happened with this quilt. Is that yellow tinge uniformly across the whole quilt?
