Slow Sunday Stitching

Welcome to the weekly Slow Sunday Stitching party where we celebrate the wonderful world of hand stitching! It's time to take a deep breath, pick up your needle and threads, and put some stitches into your hand stitching projects while you enjoy some relaxing moments.

I have been working on this embroidery design (pattern by Gail Pan) and enjoying the blooming of this Red Lion Amaryllis which was a Christmas gift. It is a rarity to see a flower in the dead of a very cold winter, so it has been a real treat.

I'll also be working on this embroidery today (pattern by Joy). I just bought these variegated DMC floss tubes and I can't wait to get stitching with them. Do you think it's a problem to combine DMC floss with Valdani threads in the same stitchery?

What are you slow stitching today? I look forward to seeing what projects you have in your hands and invite you to share your blog or instagram link below.

Amaryllis flowers are such tall and statuesque flowers. Your Red Lion is a beautiful one adding lovely colour to your winter's day. Your 'positive words' embroidery is coming along wonderfully. Love the addition of the flower. Cute 'Bee.....' stitchery too. I don't see why you cannot intermix different threads. Enjoy your stitching.

I don't think mixing the embroidery threads would be a problem unless you're a perfectionist. Aren't Amaryllis flowers so appreciated in the winter? They bring a smile to my face every time I see one. If you take care of the bulb in the off season, it will bloom every winter for years to come, happy stitching!

I love mixing what I have on hand thread wise in a project... Valdani is nice but those new DMC colors you got are nice too! Happy stitching on your new project as you enjoy your Amaryllis too!

Slow stitching a binding today, then will work on putting a sleeve on a quilt for show.

A very fun hand stitching project. I would think as long as the colors blend, changing the thread type wouldn't matter too much. Happy stitching today.

I use combinations of threads in most of my stitching. I usually have just a few of the expensive ones. I have some white silks that came in a kit and I've gradually used them up here and there. But I love DMC I have to say. Variegated are a lot of fun to use. Enjoy it all, Kathy.

Amaryllis are fun to watch grow and more fun when they bloom. The Red Lion is perfect timing to open near Valentine’s. Happy stitching!

I would say just use whatever threads make you happy in your projects! Lovely amaryllis...ours had so many blooms it fell off the counter and onto the floor. ugh! Enjoy your time with needle and thread today.

I don't think there is a problem mixing the threads. I do it frequently. Love how your words are coming along and the Red Lion Amaryllis is beautiful. Mine bloomed already and is on the fading side. Happy stitching!

Lovely embroideries, and amaryllis too ;)

Your Amaryllis is beautiful and I love the beehive stitchery. I must admit to mixing threads frequently. I've never had a problem to date. I think you just need to be aware if the threads are colourfast should you need to wash the embroidery.

Hi Kathy, I think that all floss can play together! Have a good Sunday stitching and a good week to come.
