Start something new or finish something old?

I had a great time with the Fat Quarter Shop's Halloween mystery quilt last month (although it's not finished yet) so I know that the new September Christmas mystery row project called All the Trimmings will be great fun. It starts on September 7th.

But I really want to finish the Kim Diehl Christmas quilt I finished last year first. Maybe I should make a deal with myself that I can start a new Christmas project once last year's is finished.

What do you think the odds are of a finish?

This is my goal for September - to finish my Christmas quilt. The cause for delay was I couldn't decide on whether this should be a table topper or a tree skirt. I have been hesitant to cut a hole in the middle and slice across one side.  What do you think - should this be a tree skirt or table topper?

I'd leave it as a table topper, that center block is too pretty to cut into!

I would leave it as table topper unless you REALLY need a tree skirt!!

Table Topper. It is too beautiful to hide under a tree

Table topper where it can be enjoyed. Tree skirts get covered up.

How about leaving it as is, and putting it under the tree stand? Of course, this will only work if you have an artificial tree, as you wouldn't want to risk staining it with water and sap. It is lovely!

Hmm...this quilt would make a great table topper or tree skirt. So hard to make a decision. What place are you likely to use it? under the tree or on a table?

I vote for table topper. It is far too pretty to by tucked under a tree. I love tree skirts but you wont be able to see the whole thing and this is just too beautiful for that!

Oh, I was going to be the odd man out and say make it a tree skirt, because I loved pieced tree skirts. You could make the opening inside that red center and still enjoy the beautiful design. But it is true, tree skirts usually get covered with gifts. So I bow to the pressure and agree that it would be a great table topper.
BTW, I never dreamed you would opt for a finish of an old project before starting a new one. ;)

Your quilt is so pretty. I look forward to seeing what you decide to do for the finish. The Christmas Mystery Quilt sounds like a lot of fun . I will have to check it out.

Table topper. I think the amazing pattern will be better seen that way.

Tree skirt isn't out very long. You can enjoy a table topper much longer.

Oh, I have to agree with the majority, table topper or even wall hanging where the lovely piecing can be seen nicely.

Table topper, since tree skirts get covered up with presents, and can't be seen.
