Quiltville Mystery Update

Did you enjoy a relaxing start to 2017? According to superstition, whatever you spend the first day of the year doing will set the pattern for the rest of the year. I don't believe in most superstitions, but didn't want to take any chances with this one, so I sewed for most of the day!

Bonnie revealed the end of the En Provence mystery quilt pattern yesterday. Did you see it? Her quilt is very beautiful, with lots of movement and complex block designs. I couldn't wait to get a block together to see what my colour choices would look like. I was already two steps behind, and there were even more QST blocks that were needed for step #7. It was a lot of sewing to get to this point, but here's the layout for my first block.

I am making a smaller version of her full size quilt (87" square) with 16 blocks. I am going to make mine 12 blocks and still have lots of sewing to do on block components. Here is my recycled spinach container that holds all the pieces and parts waiting to be made into blocks.
To see more design wall postings, hop over to Patchwork Times.
Here's the song I was listening to yesterday to start the new year... "leave what's heavy behind"!

So are you leaving out the yellow?

I was pleasantly shocked to see the BIG Reveal this New Year's. I'm glad we don't have a Link-up this week. I'm changing my Yellow to Green I think. Gotta make those Clue 7 Hourglass units, here we go with the Essential Tool again.

Lovely colours Kathy. Looking forward to seeing how it ends up for you. I don't do Bonnie's mystery. Its right on top of Christmas, and the weekly clues are just too much. I do love the end results though.

Love your block! I'd love to see what it looks like if you rotate the four-patches so the turquoise forms a circle around the star

I loved your color choice as components but think they are awesome for this quilt design. Your quilt will be amazing. I made half the components but am going to make a 3 by 4 quilt as well. So time to build some more components.

The layout of your first potential block looks awesome! I have very much enjoyed seeing everyone working on their mystery quilts this year -- especially those of you that used completely different color schemes! :)

Oh, your colors are gorgeous!
I think I'm going to do a 3x4 version of the quilt as well. I need to sit down and do the math at some point, but I'm so far behind sewing that it's not an urgent worry!

the block is looking great, I just saw Connie's and hers was purple, did you change yours or did she?

I've been keeping up with the components since I only did half the blocks as well(that seems to have been a common choice). But I had a quilter's New Year's brunch yesterday and with having about three weeks work thrown into one post, I'm now behind. Plus I'll have to do some more block parts to make it come out even. Not sure now that I will like the yellow where Bonnie has it, so I'll have to let it percolate for a few days. Oh, well.

Your color choices are awesome. I didn't do the mystery this year, but I like her final reveal.

Ooh, very pretty! I spent most of Jan 1 cleaning up from Christmas but ended Dec 31st sewing so it evens out, I guess!!

Your quilt is going to be beautiful! love your choice of colors. Happy New Year! I hope you are wrong about the first day thing, I just hung out in my house, straightened up things and read and rested. no sewing done. but loved looking at what everyone else made last year.

What a cool block design. Almost makes me wish that I had joined in this year. Glad I can enjoy your progress though.

It looks so pretty in those Good Neighbours fabrics! I am also a couple clues behind, but I only plan to make 9 blocks. Hopefully it will look good by next Monday!

Wow! I like YOUR block colors a whole lot better than Bonnie's (which I am using). Can't wait to see your completed top. BTW, I spent most of the day on the couch recovering from a cold I've had for 5 days. . . hope this doesn't continue all year! I did have "hopin' John" for breakfast though !

Perfect colours for such a complicated block. Reminds me of the sea :) I've not heard of this superstition, but happily I spent most of the day hand quilting - let's hope it comes true!
