Design Wall Monday
On my design wall today is the beginning of a brand new project! It is Jacquelynne's new free Block of the Month which starts on June 15.
I am going to be a featured blogger for the BOM, so I have a little head start with the patterns. I want to have my first two blocks ready to show on my blog on June 15th.
I am using these very pale, soft fabrics, which I am a little worried about.
It is a really different colour palette for me, and it looks very blah on the computer screen.
But I wanted to try something light and airy for a cozy, summer afternoon project!
I decided to go ahead and make the first two blocks and if I hate them, I will still have time to restart with new fabrics!
There are three options for the block centres (pieced, appliqued, or embroidered) and I am using the bright pink embroidery floss for my blocks. It will be fun to stitch with over the summer.
You can sign up for the BOM here.

The bright pink floss will liven the color palette up. I have trouble working with the soft color ranges too.
I love muted, almost neutral palettes, but I'm not confident enough of my ability to choose fabrics that will sparkle to try one. I fear that it'll turn out to be a murky mess of blah-ness. I can't wait to see how yours will turn out ... I know it will be fabulous!
I love those soft colours although I know they are not your colours ..you will do a great job with them!!
Sometimes when we work outside our comfort zone - we question. I think it is a lovely palette.
I think it will be very pretty and summery!
I think those colors will be very pretty!
I too think those colors will be great. I signed up too although I'm not sure I will get it done.
What sweet fabrics.

Those are not my normal colors either, but they look so soft and yummy. I look forward to seeing your progress.
Those fabrics do evoke feelings of a soft summer day. I hope you like the results! : )
love the fabrics...
Kathy, I love the muted palette - it is going to be stunning when it is finished.
Sometimes it's good to work outside our comfort zone. I love this very muted palette and will be interested to see if you like it once you've done a few blocks.
These pale, feminine colors remind me of a blogger's doll house interior that she showed not too long ago. It was absolutely adorable, and later on I read that she's to be featured in a magazine.
I am sure it is going to turn out lovely ! :)
Lucky you to be a Featured Blogger. I can't start another one. I'm not a Teacup lover so it's an easy one to pass up. Too much "staritus"going on already in my Quilt Zone.
Just LUV your fabric choices - this is going to be soooo romantic! Doesn't look blah at all.
I think your fabrics are lovely! Can't wait to see how your blocks come out :)
Very pretty fabric palette. I have some of those fabrics stashed away, I should find a project and use them up.
