Friday Finish
My Island Batik mystery quilt top is finished! My colours are quite different from the ones that Bea used in her quilt.
This was a very relaxing and fun mystery to sew, and the rows went together perfectly. I am wondering about making the quilt top larger and adding some borders, so my next step is to see what yardage I have left to use up.
Don't you just love working with batiks? I know it's a weird thing to admit, but I even love the way they smell when you iron them :)
And they lay so flat!
I think this will be a quick finish for me, because I already have a quilting idea and am eager to try it out!
Hop over to Bea's link up party and see more finished mystery tops.

I love all the bright, bold batiks! One of my favorite fabrics to work with although I haven't worked on a strictly batik project in quite a while. Great job - it will look nice in a larger size too :)
Your batik quilt is beautiful! I LOVE batiks! :0)
I love how soft this quilt looks colorwise. I haven't done a total batik piece, but am planning one for next year. Lovely finish hugs, Julierose
Lovely! Batiks do smell nice and iron so flat.
LOOKS AWESOME!! squeal!! (I do have an EQ sketch or another round all the way around but my original quilt I only had 1/2yds so that's why it's small like this.
glad you liked it though.
Really different pattern. I like it a lot! Beautiful colors. Can't wait to see the quilting. On another note I am planning to use the fun green fabric I won in the new Quiiltville mystery. Are you joining? Well happy day! G
I love the colors. Love batiks too.
The quilt is spectacular. I like the colors and their arrangement.
I think your color choices are gorgeous! Makes me think of pomegranates and blueberries, for some reason. : )
Beautiful quilt! I am anxious to see how you quilt it--and I love working with batiks, too.
That came out great! I love those pretty colors you used.
Batiks are fun to work with - and the colors . . . oh, my they are wonderful.
Congrats on the finish!
Great finish, Kathy! I can identify with your feelings of being overwhelmed with all of the piles! LOL Love your Marcus Brothers sew along blocks, too.
I did not participate in this mystery quilt. It is an interesting design. Love your colour choice. Great work Kathy.
Beautiful finish! Batiks just have that glow and the colors in your flimsy really shine.
I do like batiks, and agree they press with a different smell, lol. Congrats on a finish and a plan!
Beautiful!
Your colours here are just lovely - a great top and it will be good to see it finished.
Always nice to have a finish, especially one you had fun doing.
The colors in this are stunning Kathy! Love that plum. I agree that batiks are a delight to work with. Smooth and crisp.
