I started to make a Lil' Twister quilt in May when I bought the ruler on a Shop Hop (click here for that post). I finished the top quickly (and loved the technique) and pin basted it... then it waited for a long time while I thought of quilting ideas.
I decided to use a camel coloured thread and quilt some hooked feathers (from Sally Terry's book) in the pinwheel blocks.
Once I had the design in my mind, it was so quick and easy! The colour is off in this photo that I took by the window, but it clearly shows the quilting.
I finally have the finished runner on my table!

The quilting design is an absolutely perfect choice! I wonder why it takes us so long to make these decisions. :)
Very pretty! Last Christmas I received two of those twister things from quilt buddies and still haven't tried to use them. Looks interesting. I may have to contact you when I do if I have questions.
I made a couple of twisters when I learned how and then stopped. I love your quilting and am going to get mine out and baste them after seeing yours. Did you stop after the quilting in each pinwheel? I haven't seen the Sally Terry book before and may have to order it. Beautiful!
Love it! The hooked feather is perfect.
You've encouraged me in two areas. First, to get out my twister pattern and ruler and actually use it! Yours is so good looking.
Second, to jump into machine quilting. I've been hesitating to start, but just saw that a LQS is offering a class on getting started. I need to sign up. I want to be able to do what you have done--with loads of practice, I'm sure!
So nice and hard to believe it is all done with your domestic machine. My Twister is lost at the moment, haven't got to use it yet! Bought a book to go with it though, does that count?
I like that quilting design very much! Really, I must expand my repertoire of quilting stitches. So far I have avoided feathers.
Your quilting is so beautiful on your Lil' Twister! Great colors too!
I have made this design a few times but your quilting absolutely enhances the final product.
Great job on the quilting :)
This is absolutely one of my favourite quilts that you've made. Please think of putting it in the spring show.
Love your quilt, and the way you quilted it! I just got my Lil Twister ruler last month and have made 2 quilts-a baby boy quilt and a dolly quilt. One of them I quilted in the ditch and one I hand quilted. But I really love how you did yours!
